Recapping the Yankees' performances in the Futures Game

As the first-half of the seasons comes to a close, All-Star Game festivities are on the horizon in Miami. Yesterday the Futures Game was played between prospects from the United States and around the world. Two Yankee prospects, Domingo Acevedo and Estevan Florial, were selected to play on  the World Team, and both of them played during Sunday’s contest.

Acevedo was the fourth pitcher used by Team World and did not fare well in his outing. In one inning of work, he allowed four hits, three runs that were all earned, and struck out one batter. He was hit hard by Team USA and his outing was not a solid indication of how well he has pitched in the Yankees’ farm system.

Florial did not start the game, but played a minor role in the World Team’s near comeback over the USA. He played right field and garnered two at-bats in the game. He had one strikeout, but drew a walk and scored in his other plate appearance.
