Twelve potential September call-ups for the Yankees

Image
The Yankees are playing without a lot of depth due to players traded at the deadline and the numerous injuries they have had to deal with over the summer, so the September 1st roster expansion could not come at a better time. Despite the shortage on reserves compared to the last few seasons, there are a handful of players the Yankees would highly benefit from if they are added come the switching of the calendar month. Here are ten candidates to join the team in the next few weeks. Players with *’s next to their names are not on the 40-man roster, which in a lot of cases could hurt their chances of being called up.   Photo Credit: NY Post

Yankees' top ten pitching prospect June update

Image
The Yankees have a top-three farm system in all of baseball even with the graduation of a handful of players due to their contributions at the MLB level. The strength of their farm system at the moment is, by far, pitching. According to MLB.com’s rankings, 22 of the Yankees top 30 prospects are pitchers. With an influx of young offensive players becoming major leaguers in the Bronx in recent seasons, such as, Gary Sanchez, Aaron Judge, Clint Frazier, Greg Bird, Miguel Andujar, Tyler Austin, Tyler Wade, and Gleyber Torres, the Yankees’ front office has made it a point to try to build up their pitching depth and have successfully done so. Here is an update on the Yankees’ top ten pitching prospects.   Photo Credit: Chat Sports

Creating a Yankees' trade package: Noah Syndergaard

Last year Cashman acquired Sonny Gray, Jaime Garcia, David Robertson, Tommy Khanle, and Todd Frazier before the July 31st deadline, which helped drive the Bombers to game seven of the ALCS, but they gave up some of their better prospect in the process. The team has its sights set on a championship, so GM Brian Cashman will undoubtedly upgrade the starting pitching at the deadline, but who and for what? Sean M Haffey/Getty Images

Yankees Roster Update: Recapping 40-man roster moves 11/20/17

Image
Entering the day, the New York Yankees had 37 players occupying their 40-man roster with an 8:00 PM EST deadline looming in which 40-man rosters across baseball would freeze ahead of the December 5th Rule 5 Draft. The Yankees had a number of top prospects outside the 40-man roster who would otherwise be Rule 5 eligible unless added, but not enough spots to protect them all.  At the start of the day, the team was looking to protect INF Gleyber Torres, RHP Domingo Acevedo, INF Thairo Estrada, 1B/OF Billy McKinney & RHP Albert Abreu. Yankees sleeper prospects to watch out for in 2018

Image
The Yankees enter the 2017-18 offseason with one of, if not the best farm system in Major League Baseball. By now you know the big names. There's MLB Pipeline’s #1 overall prospect Gleyber Torres, there's top arms Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield, there's top outfield prospects Clint Frazier and Estevan Florial, and of course there's Miguel Andújar, a 3B/DH prospect who possesses possibly the best bat in the organization. But look beneath the surface and you'll find other hidden gems; lesser known names that might just force their way onto the 25-man roster at some point next season. Photo Credit: USA Today Sports

MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees expected to be in the market for Braves’ Matt Adams

Image
About a week ago, FanRag writer Jon Heyman speculated that the Yankees could be in the market to acquire current Braves first baseman Matt Adams. In his article , Heyman discussed a trade proposal that would send Adams to the Bronx, and right handed pitching prospects Domingo Acevedo and Drew Finley to Atlanta.   Photo via John Bazemore of AP As of right now, Adams, 28, is in the midst of a career resurgence. He was always thought of as the odd man out while with the Cardinals, but the change of scenery upon his trade to the Braves has done him well. Overall, Adams is slashing .292/.339/.608 to go with 13 homers in 171 at bats with his new club. That is definitely the kind of production the Yankees could use in a position that has mostly been a black hole this year, and Adams would fare well in Yankee Stadium, due to the short porch and his left handed swing. However, it should be noted that Adams’ hot streak may be misleading. His career high in homers is ...

Recapping the Yankees' performances in the Futures Game

As the first-half of the seasons comes to a close, All-Star Game festivities are on the horizon in Miami. Yesterday the Futures Game was played between prospects from the United States and around the world. Two Yankee prospects, Domingo Acevedo and Estevan Florial, were selected to play on  the World Team, and both of them played during Sunday’s contest. Photo Credit: Newsday

When you can hit 103 on a radar gun like Domingo Acevedo can, that screams special. We could be seeing this 22-year old a lot sooner than we expect. Photo Credit: Mark LoMoglio/Tampa Yankees

Ceilings and floors for top prospects part two

Image
Before we hop into part two of the prospect floor and ceilings, I wanted to remind everyone that this article is purely opinion and completely subjective. If you search the web for another place to read this type of article, you won’t find it. Not this complete anyway. No one likes to give prospects Major League comparisons because it’s a complete shot in the dark and they’re scared to be wrong. But in my opinion, with the season still on hiatus, it makes for a fun read. Right now the Yankees have the luxury of having a really exciting farm system with ton of talent that has unbelievable potential. The most intriguing part about the Yankees right now, are these prospects (at least until the season starts). Like I said in part one, every single one of these could be way off. Whether you disagree, totally agree, or think I’m insane, it’s all conversation starter. So feel free to voice your opinion in the comments or find my personal twitter handle or the blog’s twitter handle and let me...

Minor league update part 4: Charleston RiverDogs

Image
Charleston RiverDogs: 24-14 (1st in South Atlantic League Southern Division Standings, 4.5 game lead) Overall : The Charleston RiverDogs have built a sizeable lead in the SAL Southern Division standings thanks to contribution from solid prospects, and prospects that are not very familiar names. Still, this is one of the most solid class-A teams with many guys that will surely reach Tampa this year, and some that will be knocking on the door to Double-A Trenton by season’s end. They are  over performing  their preseason expectations, but with the depth of their roster, there is not any reason they can't sustain the success they've enjoyed thus far in 2016.

BBB Top Prospect Countdown #5: Domingo Acevedo

Image
Signed as an international prospect at the age of 19, Acevedo comes in at number five on our BBB top prospect countdown. Acevedo was born March 6, 1994 in Villa Los Almacigos, Dominican Republic and has since then transitioned to playing baseball in the United States. He fits the mold as another prospect who went from relatively unknown to highly touted very quickly. Photo Via MILB.com
