Report: Yankees to call up #7 prospect Domingo Acevedo

Per Robert Pimpsner of Pinstriped Prospects, the Yankees will call up their number seven overall prospect per MLB.com, Domingo Acevedo, to take Domingo German’s spot on the active roster. The move will be announced prior to tomorrow’s game with the Mets.

Acevedo, 24, has been fantastic this year in Double-A posting a 2.84 ERA in eleven games (eight starts). With Luis Cessa slated to take German’s spot in the rotation, Acevedo will be used as a reliever where his stuff can play up. During his first stint in the majors, expect to see his fastball that can reach triple digits, which should make him another power reliever in a stacked bullpen.

German was sent down after a disastrous start which saw his starter-ERA blow up above 6.00. He is a talented pitcher, but has some obvious flaws which he can work out in the minors.
