Yankees continue to stockpile international spending money; deal LHP Caleb Frare to CHW

Less than 24 hours after sending two relievers to the Cardinals in exchange for international spending money along with a minor league first baseman, Cashamn spun another deal to send minor league southpaw reliever Caleb Frare to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for 1.5 million dollars in international spending money.

Frare was another victim of the 40-man roster crunch, but had solid numbers between Double and Triple-A in 2018. In 32 games, he had a 0.81 ERA with 58 strikeouts. The 25-year-old figures to have a faster path to the majors with the White Sox.

The main story behind this deal, and even the deal last night, is the imminent splash the Yankees are projected to make on international free agents. Osiel Rodriguez, who is listed as the ninth best international prospect and third best pitcher, is one of the players the Yankees have their eyes on per Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. Rodriguez is only 16-years-old yet has hit 96 mph on the radar gun.
