MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees have checked in on Giancarlo Stanton

The Yankees outfield led by current home run leader Aaron Judge has been a strength for them all season, yet that apparently did not stop Brian Cashman from feeling out the trade market for one of the biggest names on the market.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports,, the Yankees were one of “four or five” teams that have inquired about the Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton, as Stanton is owed $295 million after this season as part of his massive 13-year deal that is likely to big for the Marlins to handle.

It is believed that the Yankees inquiry of Stanton came weeks ago, and it was nothing more than a phone call. Yet, just the thought of having Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the same lineup is mind-boggling to imagine, and most likely the reason Cashman picked up the phone in the first place.

Stanton has had injury problems in his young career, only playing in 150 games or more once out of eight years. Despite his shortened seasons, Stanton still has managed to hit 20 or more home runs in all eight of those years, is currently second in the MLB in homers with 30, and is probably the most powerful man in baseball next to Judge, standing at 6'6 and 250 pounds.

If the Yanks make another move before the trade deadline, it will probably be for a starting pitcher or an everyday first baseman. However, no trade would make bigger waves than a move for Stanton, and the package the Yanks would most likely have to give up involves more young prospects along with a few veteran starters. This would be a bad move for the Yanks, yet I cannot be denied that having the two most powerful men in major league baseball in the same lineup would be a sight to see.
