Tampa Yankees’ second baseman Nick Solak named to MLBPipeline’s Prospect Team of the Week

In a farm system stacked with talent at the upper-levels, a Tampa Yankee earned the spotlight today. Second baseman Nick Solak, who is the Yankees 18th prospect according to MLB.com, was given the nod as the top Minor League second baseman of last week by MLBPipeline. Solak had videogame-like numbers, in a week’s span, as hit .545 with three extra base-hits, nine runs scored, seven RBIs, and four stolen bases in six games.

Solak was a second-round pick in 2016 from Louisville. He is quickly rising through the Yankees’ system and is overall putting together a very solid season. He is slashing .309/.411/.441 with eight stolen bases through the team’s first 69 games. He is second in the Florida State League in OBP and is sixth among players in batting average.

If he continues this up it would not be surprising to see him promoted to Double-A by the season’s end and rise through the power rankings among Yankee prospects. Solak was ranked 29th on the BBB’s prospect rankings.
