Sources: Yankees to promote Miguel Andújar

Due to a rash of injuries at the big league level, as well as ineffectiveness from current starting third baseman Chase Headley, the Yankees are reportedly promoting Miguel Andújar to the big league club after just seven games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, according to multiple sources. 


In his limited time in Triple-A, Andújar hit an impressive 8-for-26 (.308) with one home run, a double and six runs scored. This comes on the heels of his torrid run through Double-A earlier this year in which he batted .312/.342/.494 with seven long balls and an impressive 52 runs batted in.

Andújar’s promotion comes in response to Matt Holliday, who has been battling a mysterious illness all week, being put on the 10-day disabled list.  Andújar already held a spot on the Yankees' 40-man roster, so no additional roster move will be required. 

 The Yankees will need a strong right-handed bat in their lineup for the next few weeks with Aaron Hicks and Starlin Castro also out.  Andújar should be expected to see regular work at DH as well as platoon with Headley at third.

Five keys to a successful 2016

Being trapped inside for the last two days due to the snowstorm that pounded the entire eastern seaboard has only enhanced my desire for the return of baseball season. Considering all indications from ownership point to the Yankees being done for the most part as far as additions are concerned, I felt as if now would be a prompt time to make some early predictions about the 2016 season. As I look at the Yankees team as currently comprised, I'm feeling the same sense of uncertainty as I did at this point last season. A successful 2016 season is contingent on production from players who are either old, injury prone, or in some cases, a combination of both. Normally, this would seem to be a recipe for disaster, however I'm going to try the optimistic route. Below, are what I view as the five keys to a successful 2016.
