All-Star ballot update #5: Judge maintains AL lead, other Yankees falling out

The final All-Star game ballot update was released earlier today, and the starters for the American League are beginning to look a little clearer. Aaron Judge is the only player in the AL with over three million votes (3,442,597 to be exact), and the next closest player is Jose Altuve with 2.9 million. This is the fourth consecutive week that Judge has been atop the AL leader boards for votes, and it’s looking like he will run away with that honor.

In other news, Gary Sanchez has moved up to second behind Salvador Perez for the catcher position. He trails by about 800,000 votes, but it’s good to see Gary finally being recognized as one of the best catchers in the league even after missing a month. 

For the other Yankees on the ballot, things aren’t looking so good. Starlin Castro remains in second place behind Altuve, but he’s over a million votes behind. Didi Gregorius remains in third for AL shortstops once again, but Matt Holliday and Brett Gardner have both dropped in their standings. Holliday is now fourth among designated hitters after coming in second last week, and Gardner dropped from eighth to ninth for outfielders. 

The voting ends on this Thursday, June 29^th. The Yankees need as much help as they can in the next four days in order to start in the Midsummer Classic.
