Charlie Morton outduels Sonny Gray as the Yankees' nine-game winning streak is snapped

Image
In a game dominated by pitching, the Yankees did not produce much at the plate and fell victim to Charlie Morton’s brilliance. Sonny Gray looked much better out there tonight and worked out of trouble in big spots to only allow two runs over six innings. The Yankees chipped away at the lead in the eighth, cutting the game to 2-1, but ultimately could not push another run across and their nine-game winning streak was snapped.   Photo Credit: AP

Series Preview: Yankees @ Astros (4/30-5/3)

Image
The Yankees will be traveling to Houston for a four-game set against the defending World Champion Houston Astros, the first time the Bombers have visited Minute Maid Park since Game 7 of the 2017 ALCS. It is the final series of New York’s first mini West Coast trip. No one in baseball is playing hotter than the Yankees, having won their last nine games, including a three-game sweep of the Angels over the weekend. The Astros have started 2018 with a 19-10 record, notching the best team ERA in the MLB (2.59). This series should be a fun one to watch and will give Yankee fans a better indication on how legit this team is.   Photo Credit: Getty Images Game 1: Monday, April 30 th , 8:10pm Sonny Gray (1-1, 7.71 ERA) vs Charlie Morton (3-0, 1.86 ERA) Sonny Gray takes the bump for the Yankees in the series opener. In his five starts this season, Gray has been no better than abysmal. He has one win to his credit, the only start he qualified for a W all season. Four of his starts

11-2-1 now in the last 14 games. For those of you at home keeping track, that puts us up about 7 units in that stretch. With Sonny Gray on the mound the Yankees have a tough night ahead of them, but BBBetting should have an easy one.  Photo Credit: Thomas A. Ferrara/Newsday

Behind seven strong from CC, HR from Sanchez, Yankees complete sweep of Angels

Image
The Yankees came in looking to cap off a sweep of the Angels and extend their eight-game win streak. The game was dominated by pitching, especially Yankee starter CC  Sabathia . He had his longest start (in innings pitched) since August 25th, 2017. The Yankees bats struggled to put anything together for most of the  night , but another clutch home run from Gary Sanchez proved to be the difference in a 2-1 ballgame.   Photo Credit: Mark J. 10-2-1 over the last 13 games, and just like the Yankee’s themselves, BBBetting appears unstoppable. Not even a West Coast road trip seems to be enough to slow us down, and tonight on Baseball’s biggest stage, I am excited to keep this rolling.  Photo Credit: Mark J. Terrill/AP

Early offensive explosion, another Tanaka gem pave way to eighth straight win

Image
On the heels of an emotional, come-from-behind win last  night , the Yankees turned to Masahiro Tanaka to keep the ball rolling.  Opposing Tanaka was RHP Garrett Richards for the Angels.  Both Tanaka and Richards had strong starts their last time out, with both earning the win.  Last night's win was New York's seventh in a row, and after Boston's loss at home to Tampa earlier this afternoon, the Yankees had a chance to pull within two games of the first place Red Sox. Tanaka was sharp all n ight ,  Richards didn't get out of the second and New York won  its  eighth straight by a score of 11-1.   Photo Credit: Mark J. Terrill/AP Photo

Gettin’ Miggy With It: Andujar’s Hot Start

Image
While the weather is still trying to catch on, things have been heating up in a big way in the Bronx. The Yankees have won seven games in a row and have been pouring on the runs, putting up 51 during the win streak. One of the major components of this streak has been the play of one of most recent Baby Bombers, Miguel Andujar.   Photo Credit : AP Photo/Kathy Willens After a slow start, going hitless and looking fairly overwhelmed in his first three games, Andujar’s bat has caught fire and has been red-hot ever since. Over his last 15 games, he is hitting .350 with eleven doubles, one triple, three homers and eleven RBIs. The extra base hits alone are a staggering number for such a brief period.  With his production added to a rejuvenated lineup, it’s easy to see why the Yankees have been putting up so many runs. He has greatly helped minimize any holes in the Yankees lineup from top to bottom.   His latest heroics coming last night when he ignited a game-tying rally in the

Gregorius does it again, hits clutch homer in the tenth to secure 4-3 win

Image
Coming into this seven-game road stint, the Yankees were feeling good. Winners of their last six games, New York ace Luis Severino took the bump Friday night looking to secure his fifth win of the season, and the seventh straight for the Yankees. The name of the game for both teams was solid defense and timely hitting, but the hottest hitter of the season struck once again, giving the Yankees a 4-3 win in 10 innings.   Photo Credit: Jae C. The Yankees Should Make a Move for Madison Bumgarner this Summer

Image
As we enter the final weekend of the month of April, the Bronx Bombers find themselves on a tear. They got off to a bit of a rough start to their season, going 9-9 in the first 18, but finished their homestand winning six straight games, with the most recent victory being a come from behind walk off win. All is good in Yankee land at the moment; the bats are coming to life, the bullpen seems to be getting it back together after a few implosions, and there have been some terrific performances from the starters over the past week; yet not from all the starters. While Luis Severino, CC and Gumby have all looked sharp through their first few starts, Sonny Gray has been downright dreadful, and Masahiro Tanaka has also been shaky despite a couple of stellar performances. The Yanks find themselves on the outside looking in when you talk about elite rotations. The Astros, Red Sox and Indians all have superior rotations to the Yanks at this moment, which as we saw last postseason, is usually t

Series Preview: New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels (4/27-4/29)

The New York Yankees set-off on Friday night for their first west coast trip of the season, as they meet the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim for a three-game weekend series. The Yankees come into the road trip playing their best baseball of the season, now winners of six straight thanks to a Gary Sanchez walk-off homerun against the Twins on Thursday afternoon. The Angels, meanwhile, should be feeling good about themselves as well, having just taken two out of three from their division rivals, and reigning World Series champs, the Houston Astros. Los Angeles, however, has lost six of their last nine contests. Photo via Seth Wenig/AP

Sanchez walk-off HR caps Yankees' comeback, sweep of Twins

Image
The Yankees entered Thursdays game looking for a  four-game  sweep of the Twins and their sixth straight win overall.  It was Jordan Montgomery taking the bump against Kyle Gibson for a matinee in the Bronx. Gibson pitched great as he took a no hitter into the sixth inning, completely shutting down the Yankee bats.  The Yankees never gave up though, as they rallied back from down 3-1 in the ninth, when Gary Sanchez hit a three-run  walk-off  home run, giving the Yankees the win.

Historic night for Gregorius leads Yankees to fifth straight win

Image
Yet another big day at the plate for Didi Gregorius led the Yankees to their fifth consecutive win on Wednesday  night , as they defeated the Minnesota Twins 7-4. The Yankees shortstop also made history when he homered in the third inning. Gregorius became the first Yankees shortstop ever to hit a homerun in four consecutive games. The Bronx Bombers are now 14-9 on the season.   Photo via New York Yankees

Frankie Crosetti: “King of Rings”

Image
The New York Yankees have long been admired for their brilliant winning pedigree. They’ve won 27 World Series Championships, 40 American League Pennants and produced some of the greatest players the game of baseball has ever seen. They are truly the standard to which all teams in any sport are measured against. They’re the only team in baseball history to win four straight championships (1936-1939) and five straight (1949-1953). For 85 years, the original Yankee Stadium was the most hallowed ground in sports and home of some of the greatest games ever played. In 2009, that tradition continued as the Yankees won title number 27 in their first season at the new Yankee Stadium. Because of the team’s tremendous success, they’ve had players and coaches who have done a tremendous amount of winning (with apologies to Don Mattingly). Babe Ruth won four times, Joe DiMaggio nine, Mickey Mantle seven, and Lou Gehrig six. Then of course you had the man with the greatest sayings in baseball, the i

It has taken almost two weeks, but BBBetting has finally returned to earth. I will take a loss for BBBetting if it means a Yankee blow out any night of the week. Tonight we are not going to have to play that game though, as I expect a big night, a Yankee win, and a BBBetting victory.  Photo Credit: Dan Hamilton/USA TODAY Sports

Bombers continued scalding hot streak scorching the Twins 8-3

Image
After a thrashing of the Twins Monday night, the Bombers looked poised to continue their three-game winning streak in this homestand. CC Sabathia took the mound to face Jose Berrios and the Minnesota Twins in the second round of their four-game series. After a short stumble by Sabathia in the first inning, the Yankees scored a run or more in four straight innings to retake the lead, and never looked back. Didi Gregorius continued his impressive start, recording his seventh home run of the year and added three more RBIs to his season total. Gleyber Torres recorded his first RBI as well, and Gary Sanchez launched his fourth and fifth home runs of the year as well. The Yanks seem like they are starting to finally click, a great sign for the Bronx faithful. Yankees.com

Hopefully a few nights off here will not slow down the absolute red hot streak we have been on. This blog is 7-1-1 with our last nine picks, and just like the Yankees bats, appears unstoppable. Yankee offense explodes while Tanaka turns a gem

Image
The Yankees entered Monday night’s contest against the Twins coming off their first legit series win of the season. With prized prospect Gleyber Torres now manning second base in the Bronx, the Yankees would look to continue to build momentum while the struggling Masahiro Tanaka would look to rebound from a string of very poor outings. Tanaka started strong and even though he seemed to run out of gas in the middle innings yet again, the Yankees used some early (and late) offense to seize control and coast to a 14-1 victory. Neil Walker's time is running out

Image
Late in the offseason, the Yanks made a minor splash in signing veteran infielder Neil Walker, shoring up the team’s depth in the infield. So far, the deal just hasn’t worked itself out, as Walker’s late start to his spring training has ultimately affected his play. His one-year, $4 million deal was a low-risk deal that hasn’t paid off and possibly won’t have the potential to do so.  Photo Credit: Gregory J. Fisher/USA TODAY Sports

What is wrong with Sonny Gray?

Image
Coming into the 2018 season, Sonny Gray was considered by many a  dark horse  candidate for the 2018 American League Cy Young Award. His start to the year has been nothing short of disastrous, and certainly nowhere near Cy Young caliber.  Through four starts, Sonny Gray holds a 1-1 record, but an eye-popping 8.27 ERA and even more gruesome 2.082 WHIP.  Gray entered this season free of the injury woes that had plagued him in previous years and had his sights set on a career year. The results, however, have been anything but.   Photo Credit: Andy Marlin/USA Today Sports

Series Preview: New York Yankees vs Minnesota Twins (4/23-4/26)

Image
With their first matchup since the infamous 2017 Wildcard game, the New York Yankees (11-9) will take on the Minnesota Twins (8-8) for a four-game series starting Monday night. The Yankees are coming off their best series of the season, winning three out of the four games against second place Toronto.   Minnesota has lost four out of their last five on a current nine game road stint*, including getting swept by the Tampa Bay Rays. *Two of the games were “home” games, but played in San Juan, PR. The Gleyber Torres Era Begins With a Win

BREAKING: Yankees to promote top prospect Gleyber Torres

Image
Well, it's finally happening.  After waiting out the required 20 days in order to gain an extra year of team control on their top prospect, the Yankees have announced they will promote 2B/3B  Gleyber  Torres to the Major League roster.  Having some of the league's worst production at the second base positions  through  the season's first three weeks, Torres is expected to slot in immediately and give the New York offense a jolt they were missing from Tyler Wade and Neil Walker.   Photo Credit; Getty Images This news is courtesy of YES's Jack Curry who tweeted this on Saturday evening: Source: Gleyber Torres will be promoted and will join the Yankees on Sunday. So the Gleyber Era will begin. — Jack Curry (@JackCurryYES) April 21, 2018 Torres, of course, was cut down in the middle of a strong season last year after tearing his Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his left (non-throwing) elbow, which required Tommy John Surgery, and was sent to AAA to start 201
