Judge homers twice, Frazier comes up clutch as Yanks win 6-4 over O's

It took some late heroics, but the Yankees were able to pull out a 6-4 win over the Orioles on Saturday night.  After stumbling through the middle innings, hampered by sloppy play and questionable bullpen management, the Yankees found themselves down by a run to the Orioles.  Clint Frazier played the role of hero in this one, stepping to the plate with two men on.  Facing Miguel Castro, Frazier blasted a clutch three-run homer to give the Yanks a two-run lead which they would not relinquish.

 The starting matchup was a rematch from last Sunday, with JA Happ taking the ball for New York, and Dylan Bundy getting the start for Baltimore. Happ went only 4.1 innings, giving up two earned runs including a solo homer to Trey Mancini in the bottom of the 1st. Bundy was even worse,, as he only made it through 3.2, with Judge homering in the 1st and 3rd innings.  The first being a booming solo shot, and the second a towering 2-run blast both hit to center field. 


 Jonathan Holder entered in relief of Happ, who had gotten into some trouble in the fifth.  Holder allowed an inherited runner to score before recording the third out and then worked a scoreless sixth inning. He then entered for a third inning of work in the top of the seventh, with Adam Ottavino still waiting in the bullpen. Some would question this decision, and those questions may prove valid, as Aaron Boone let Holder put two men on before putting Ottavino in. The O’s would take the lead after a misplay from Greg Bird and a sacrifice fly from Rio Ruiz. 

 However, Frazier was there to save the day, drilling a three-run bomb off Miguel Castro in the top of the eighth inning to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead that would prove to be the winning score.

 Adam Ottavino and Chad Green combined to pitched a scoreless 8th - although Baltimore loaded the bases in the process - and Aroldis Chapman closed it out in the ninth to secure the win. 
  
What’s Next 
The Yankees face the Orioles again tomorrow for the final game of this three-game series, as New York turns to Domingo German (1-0, 0.00) while Baltimore counters with David Hess (1-0, 0.00).  First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM.

 UPDATE D 11/18/15 We’ve all heard it: The Yankees aren’t likely to be big spenders this offseason. Hearing this makes me chuckle as the Yankees have the dollars to field a $500 million pay roll if they wanted to, but their dedication to winning just hasn’t been there since the passing of good ole’ George.
