Yankees Call Up Brandon Drury for Boston Series
It was a mystery for much
of Thursday as to who would be called up to the Yankees once Luis Cessa was
sent back down after his start on Wednesday. Names ranging from Austin to Wade
were all mentioned, however our questions were answered late Thursday night,
when some news broke on Twitter.
It has been reported by
Ken Rosenthal that Brandon Drury will be called up to the Yankees and will be available
for the series against the Red Sox this coming weekend.
The predicament that
Drury has been in this season has been unique, yet unfortunate to say the least,
as he has gone from being the Opening Day starting third baseman to being an
everyday player in Triple A. Of course, the rise of Miguel Andujar at third did
not help Drury, yet when a player such as Neil Walker is struggling and still on the roster,
it makes you wonder as to why Drury has not gotten his second shot yet. Drury
originally went down early in the season, and it was soon discovered by the
Yankees that Drury had been playing with blurry vision his entire career. In
his time in Scranton, Drury dominated, sporting a .907 OPS and making the AAA All
Star team.
Drury will have another
shot to prove to the Yankees that he belongs on the 25 man roster this weekend
against Boston, or at the very least, show other teams that he can play and
raise his potential trade value.
