Reacting to the Yankees' trades of Zach Britton, J.A. Happ

Image
In a span of 48 hours earlier this week, Yankees' General Manager Brian Cashman pulled off two trades to bolster both the starting rotation and bullpen as the Yankees hit the dog days of summer, still within striking distance of Boston for the AL East crown.  New York has one of the stronger lineups in baseball and few spots for obvious upgrades, so Cashman chose to focus on the other side of the ball.   Photo Credit: Frank Franklin/AP Photo

Masahiro Tanaka impresses on the mound in complete game shutout against Tampa Bay

Image
After a disappointing, preventable 7-6 loss last night at Tropicana Field, the Yankees rebounded and won game two against the Tampa Bay Rays. Masahiro Tanaka cruised through the lineup all night, completely shutting out Tampa. This was Tanaka’s first complete game since April 2017. Brandon Drury left the game with a left hand contusion in the fifth, but most importantly, the Yankees were able to even up the series.  Photo Credit: AP Photo/Mike Carlson

Big First Inning Fuels Yanks over Jays as Sevy Gets Win Number 14

Image
The opening game in this series on Friday was plagued by another poor Sonny Gray performance, yet the Yanks had reason for optimism on Saturday, as their ace Luis Severino was on the hill. The optimism was well deserved, as Severino added to his MLB league lead in wins, picking up number 14 and riding a big performance by the offense as the Yanks took this one 8-5.   Photo Credit: AP Fred Thornhill The Canadian Press The game began with a bang, as Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge went back-to-back to start off the game, putting Blue Jay starter and possible future Yankee J.A Happ on the ropes, as many viewed this as an unofficial audition for his possible new team. However, Happ would continue to pitch subpar, completely losing the strike zone and would not even make it out of the third inning. Brandon Drury added in on the fun in the opening frame and ripped a two-run double to give the Yankees four first inning runs.    Photo Credit: AP Fred Thornhill The C...

Creating a Yankees' trade package: Brad Hand

Image
Last year Cashman acquired Sonny Gray, Jaime Garcia, David Robertson, Tommy Kahnle, and Todd Frazier before the July 31st deadline, which helped drive the Bombers to game seven of the ALCS, but they gave up some of their better prospect in the process. The team has its sights set on a championship, so GM Brian Cashman will undoubtedly upgrade the team's pitching at the deadline, but who and for what? AP/Gregory Bull

Gray shelled early, Sale tosses gem in 11-0 massacre

In game two of this three-game set between the AL's top two teams, the Red Sox got to Sonny Gray early, and coasted to an easy victory behind an utterly dominant Chis Sale. The Boston bats were relentless all night, led by Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez.  With the win, Boston recaptured sole  possession  of first place in the AL East and evened the season series with the Yankees and four games  apiece .   Photo Credit: Julie Jacobson/AP

Yankees Call Up Brandon Drury for Boston Series

Image
It was a mystery for much of Thursday as to who would be called up to the Yankees once Luis Cessa was sent back down after his start on Wednesday. Names ranging from Austin to Wade were all mentioned, however our questions were answered late Thursday night, when some news broke on Twitter.  Photo Credit: Ken Inness MILB.com It has been reported by Ken Rosenthal that Brandon Drury will be called up to the Yankees and will be available for the series against the Red Sox this coming weekend. The predicament that Drury has been in this season has been unique, yet unfortunate to say the least, as he has gone from being the Opening Day starting third baseman to being an everyday player in Triple A. Of course, the rise of Miguel Andujar at third did not help Drury, yet when a player such as Neil Walker is struggling and still on the roster, it makes you wonder as to why Drury has not gotten his second shot yet. Drury originally went down early in the season, and it wa...
