Yankees reinstate Adam Warren, option Tommy Kahnle to AAA
Following the Yankees 7-4 win in
the first game of today’s double header, they reinstated RHP Adam Warren from
the 10-Day DL, and optioned RHP Tommy Kahnle to AAA.
This move comes as a surprise,
seeing as Kahnle served as a very vital pitcher to the Yanks late last season.
However, he struggled at the beginning of this season, pitching to a 6.14 ERA
in 7.1 innings. Kahnle’s velocity has also been down this season, and since he
has only pitched twice since his activation off the DL, the move to the minors
could just be an effort to get him pitching more regularly. No matter the reason, Kahnle will be back in pinstripes soon enough.

Warren, on the other hand, has not
pitched since April 20, and is a welcome addition to the Yankees’ bullpen. He
has also had his struggles this year though, and even though he has a 3.24 ERA
in 8.1 innings, he allowed ten hits and walked four. However, for a team with as unpredictable
starting pitching as the Yankees, adding another reliever who can pitch
multiple innings is only an addition that will benefit the team in the future.
