Yanks Get Embarrassed in Boston 14-1

The Yankees and Red Sox renewed their rivalry on Tuesday night, with the Yankees coming off a brutal weekend which featured two extra inning losses, with the Red Sox on the other hand getting off to an 8-1 start including some come from behind victories. Yankees baseball remained brutal on Tuesday night, as it was an abysmal performance as the Yanks got embarrassed in Fenway 14-1.

With Chris Sale on the mound for the Sox, it was clear that Sevy was going to have to bring his A game with him: which he did not. Severino got off to a rough start immediately. Mookie Betts led off the game with a double, followed by a walk to Benintendi, and a base hit to Hanley Ramirez made it 1-0 Red Sox early. Sevy would not calm down in the second, as the Red Sox chipped away, scoring three runs in the inning and putting the Yanks in an early 4-0 hole against Sale.

After Severino let up a fifth run to Boston in the fourth, the Yankees answered back in the top of the fifth, when Aaron Judge went deep off Sale to dead center to make it 5-1. Giancarlo would get a hit in the inning as well, yet nothing more would come of it. Sevy finished his start with a strong fifth, giving the Yanks five rocky innings.

Tommy Kahnle would come in to relieve Sevy and it was more headaches, as he let up a hit and then walked two batters to load the bases, before letting up a two run double to J.D Martinez and a sacrifice fly to Devers, as Kahnle continued his poor start to the season. The Red Sox continued to pour it on, as they ran it up to 14-1 after a Mookie Betts grand slam, which wound up being the final score.
It was just an awful performance by the Yankees, one that will maybe wake this team up that has looked so flat over the last five games. Injuries are a major part, yet there is no excuse for a game like tonight. Tanaka gets the ball tomorrow night against David Price, lets hope he can repeat his April start from last year in Fenway.
