Yankees acquire Cody Asche from the Royals
Earlier
today it was announced that the Yankees acquired Cody Asche from the Royals in exchange
for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
Asche
has experience playing third base, outfield, and has two career appearances at
first base. He is a career .234/.293/.376 hitter in 1238 at-bats over a course
of five seasons with the Phillies and White Sox.
This
move is most likely a depth move, due to the massive injury bug that has
affected the Yankees so far, this season. Expect the 27-year-old to report to Scranton
or possibly replace Miguel Andújar on the major league roster, if the Yankees
still want him to get every day at-bats in Triple-A.
