Yankees re-sign Adam Lind to minors deal
With
the rash of injuries occurring in the Yankees’ system and the up and coming
suspension of Tyler Austin on the horizon, the Yankees made a move this
afternoon to improve their depth by re-signing veteran 1B/OF Adam Lind to a
minor league deal.
Lind was signed to a minors deal with an invite to spring training in March, but was released 12 days later, when his chances of making the opening day roster became slim. He hit 3-for-15 with no XBH’s in limited action in Yankees’ camp before his release and was unable to latch on permanently with another club.
Lind
will provide depth at first base and in the outfield for the Bombers. According
to Chris Cotillo of the MLB Daily Dish, Lind will be sent to extended spring
training. The 34-year-old Lind was very vocal this offseason about how unusual
it was for a player like him who hit .303 in 2017 to not receive any sort of
interest on the market.
