Offense stifled as Yankees drop series finale versus the White Sox

The Yankees dropped the finale against the White Sox 4-1, despite a quality start by CC Sabathia. This is a very disappointing series loss to a team the Yankees had no business losing to.

The Yankees only offense on the night was a Ronald Torreyes RBI single. The Yankees hit some balls hard and had plenty of opportunities to make some noise, but were never able to capitalize. The team only managed five hits, one for extra bases, off of Reynaldo Lopez, who had a 4.61 ERA coming into tonight’s start. The only highlight for the Yankees on the night was some spectacular defense displayed by Aaron Hicks in centerfield.

Sabathia was certainly good enough for the Yankees to win as he tossed six solid innings and allowed only three runs. Chad Green also allowed one run to score. All four of the White Sox runs came off the bat of LF Ryan LaMarre. He was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI. He was a one man wrecking crew for the Sox, but it was still enough to beat the Yankees, who did not have anything going for them tonight. On the defensive side of the ball, Adam Engel continued to rob the Yankees.

What’s next?

The Yankees will begin a four-game stint in the Bronx versus the Detroit Tigers tomorrow. JA Happ will go for win number 16 on the season, and he will be opposed by the southpaw veteran, Francisco Liriano.
