Giancarlo Stanton's walk-off homer caps off epic five-run comeback versus Seattle

In a game where nothing was going right for the Yankees in the early going, the fans who stuck with the team or tuned in after they received scoring alerts were rewarded with the Yankees’ biggest come from behind victory since the eight-run deficit versus Baltimore last April.

Jonathan Loaisiga was not bad in today’s start, but worked into a lot of deep counts against a tough Mariners’ lineup and was pulled in the fourth inning after striking out Mike Zunino with one out. Chasen Shreve came on and allowed Dee Gordon to lace a two-run single and was seemingly in to eat innings as he was not sharp and allowed four runs total, including the inherited runs from “Johnny Lasagna.”

The Yankees live and die by the home run as those are what tied and won the game, but a key hit by Judge and sac-fly by Didi got the Yankees within two runs of the Mariners. Jonathan Holder pitched tremendously to keep the Yankees in the game.

Then the magic happened as Gary Sanchez muscled his 14th home run of the season off of former Ray closer, Alex Colome, to tie the game at five runs .The Yankees went to Chapman in the ninth and he pitched tremendously, without any arm sleeves, hitting 104 mph with his last pitch.

Unlike the Yankees, the M’s did not go to their closer in the ninth inning, and they paid the price, as Ryan Cook allowed a single to Didi Gregorius, and then surrendered the game-winning home run to Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton earned his pinstripes as his home run sent the fans home happy and secured the Yankees a series win over Seattle.

What’s Next?

The Yankees will go for the series sweep tomorrow as the aces of both teams in Luis Severino and James Paxton will face off tomorrow at 1pm. The game will be live streamed on Twitter for out-of -market viewers.
