Yankees win a game one slugfest in Arlington, 10-5
Final Score: Yankees 10, Rangers 5
The Yankees continued what many people consider the
easy part of their schedule on Monday by playing the lowly Texas Rangers. The
Yankees did not play down to the level of their competition as a good enough
Masahiro Tanaka outing was backed by a ton of extra base hits off of the soon to be 45-year-old Bartolo Colon and the Rangers' bullpen.

The Yankees struck first in the second inning when
Neil Walker doubled in Gary Sanchez to stay hot and make the game 1-0 in favor
of the Yankees. Gleyber Torres followed by showing the elder statesman on the
mound no mercy as he blasted a two-run bomb to make it 3-0.
The Rangers answered back with a run of their own in
the bottom half of the inning as Joey Gallo blasted a towering homer to right
field to make it 3-1, therefore, cutting their deficit to two runs.
The Yankees and Rangers scored nothing in the third
inning, but that changed in the fourth. Walker blasted his first home run of
the season to make it a 4-1 game, and the Rangers answered back loudly. Tanaka
looked very shaky in the third and walked two hitters to lead up to the
scuffling Rougned Odor. Tanaka hung a breaking ball, and Odor clobbered it to
tie the game at four runs. Tanaka escaped without any further damage.
Aaron Judge decided he did not want the game to be
tied for very long as he launched a solo home run to deep center to make it a
5-4 game in the top of the fifth. Following the homer, Stanton singled and
Hicks walked, but the score remained 5-4.
After Tanaka made two nice defensive plays in the fifth, the
Yankees broke the game open in the sixth. Colon surprisingly came out after allowing five runs through five. Gleyber Torres started things off
with a solo jack, his second of the game, and the twelfth multi-homer game by a
Yankee this season. This ended Colon's night. Stanton hit a sacrifice-fly following a Judge double to
make it 7-4, and Didi Gregorius had his first RBI hit since April 28 as he
doubled in a run to make it 8-4.

Chad Green relieved Tanaka in the sixth, after his
shaky outing.
David Robertson followed him out of the bullpen and pitched a scoreless eighth.
Aaron Hicks added to the lead with an absolute bomb off of Jesse Chavez in the ninth to plate two runs, extending the lead to 10-5. Jonathan Holder pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the win.

The Good:
The Yankees continue to rake as they hit four or more
home runs and eight or more extra base hits for the third consecutive game. The eight XBH's has only been done three other times in the Modern Era, and the four home runs streak is the longest in club history and longest in the sport since May of 2011. Didi Gregorius also recorded a much needed RBI double.
The Bad:
Tanaka allowed only three hits, but allowed two long
home runs and had rare control issues, which is not the best of signs.
What’s next?
The Yankees will look to secure a series victory
tomorrow night as Domingo German faces off against Cole Hamels. First pitch is set
for 8:05.
