Yankees promote Justus Sheffield to Triple-A

The Yankees made a move today that surprised almost no one based off the stuff he flashed in spring training and the numbers he has posted in the early going in 2018. They promoted their number three prospect, Justus Sheffield, to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sheffield has not disappointed after impressing many fans and scouts in big league camp as in five starts he has posted a 2.25 ERA and recorded 39 strikeouts for Double-A Trenton. His walk rate is a little alarming, but it is a small sample size and can hopefully improve with the increased competition.

The Yankees see Sheffield as being close to major league ready, and this promotion should be the last obstacle standing in his way from donning pinstripes for the major league roster.
