BBB Betting Tips: Yankees @ Blue Jays 3/29
I attended my first “Bleacher
Creature” game in 2008 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The crowd was electric, and
chanted “you get paid in monopoly money” at Vernon Wells for nine innings. It
is almost symbolic that 2018’s Opening Day, and my first betting tip article
for the Bronx Bomber Ball, comes against those same Blue Jays. Unlike
Vernon Wells, the goal here is to make some real cash.

New York Yankees @ Toronto
Blue Jays (03/29)
Luis Severino (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
vs. J.A. Happ (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
The public is loving the
Yankees. Currently 60% of the public are betting the favored Yankees, taking
them at a comfortable -150. I so want to go along with them, but Severino has
never beaten the Blue Jays, and Happ won both his starts against the Bombers
last year. Obviously, I think the Yankees squeak one out, but this game is not
something I’d love to put money on. Today, let’s look for an opening day over.
Currently the line is at 8.5 runs (-105).
The cynic in me sees 66% of
the public betting the over here. The line has to be inflated with a lineup
like the Yankees are presenting. Against Happ, the Yankees lost two low scoring
games 4-2, and 4-1. This screams taking the under in my eyes. Having said that,
Severino gave up seven runs in two starts against Toronto last year, and this
offense appears destined to explode out of the gate. Grab the over, expect some
early runs, and enjoy a fireworks display to start the season.
Final Call: Take the over at
8.5 (-105)
