BREAKING: Yankees break consecutive game home run streak held by 2002 Rangers
With
DJ LeMahieu’s home run in the first inning of tonight's game, the Yankees officially hold the
record for the most consecutive games hitting a home run. Aaron Hicks tied the
record with his home run in yesterdays’ game and his teammate, LeMahieu took no time
to put the Yankees in sole possession of the feat.
The
previous record, held by the 2002 Texas Rangers, was during the span of August
11th and September 9th. The record is now 28 games, which could be extended
even further given the Yankees powerful lineup.
This
record is even more impressive as it started long before the acquisition of
Edwin Encarnacion and while numerous star players were on the injured list.
This is just one of the many accomplishments this team has this season, and
they will look to continue mashing balls at a historic pace.
