Yankees One Of Three Teams In On Julio Pablo Martinez

It's been a very slow going off-season Yankee fans the hot stove is more like the cold stove. Yesterday Ben Badler (Baseball America) broke the news that the New York Yankees are one of three teams (Texas and Miami) considered to be the favorites to sign top Cuban prospect outfielder Julio Pablo Martinez who's said to be 21-years-old.

Per Badler:
“Based on his present talent level, Martinez is ready for a high Class A or Double-A assignment. A lefty around 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, Martinez in his last season in Cuba hit .333/.469/.498 with 52 walks, 30 strikeouts and six home runs in 264 plate appearances with 24 stolen bases in 29 tries”.

Both New York and Miami would probably have to wait until the 2018 signing period begins (July 2nd) Texas still has enough money left due to missing out on Ohtani.

If the Bombers end up signing Martinez that would only strengthen their already strong farm system, and I can't imagine Miami would be a very appealing situation, but I've been wrong before.
