All-Star ballot update #3: Aaron Judge reigns supreme
After
a big night in Anaheim, Aaron Judge continues to collect accolades in 2017 as
he is the leading vote getter in all of the American League for the second week
in a row. The man who heard MVP chants 3,000 miles away from his home stadium
and is currently leading the league in the Triple Crown categories is pulling
away from second place vote getter Jose Altuve by almost 300,000 votes.
The
rest of the team remained relatively stagnant in terms of their position from
last week. Altuve is pulling away from Starlin Castro by a little less than
600,000 votes. Holliday is closing in on Nelson Cruz for the designated hitter
starting position, but still sits at second place by about 180,000 votes. Gary
Sanchez and Didi Gregorius are having a scorching hot month of June and are
making strong cases for both of them to selected to play in the Midsummer
Classic. Gary Sanchez is up to ten home runs and 28 RBIs, while Gregorius is
hitting .344 and is in the midst of a 14-game hitting streak. However, both players remain fourth and third respectively among players in their position. Brett Gardner is
still five players out of a starting position, and Aaron Hicks is not on the
ballot.
