Castro homers, picks up four RBI's in Yankees 7-1 win

Starlin Castro was the star of the game tonight as he had four RBI’s in the Yankees 7-1 win against the Orioles. He opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when he hit his 11th homer of the season, a two run home run into the second deck in left field. He also doubled in the bottom of the sixth to score two more runs.

The Yankees also scored in the bottom of the fifth. Rob Refsnyder walked and stole second base with nobody out. After Brett Gardner struck out, Jacoby Ellsbury singled up the middle to score Refsnyder and give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.

Nathan Eovaldi looked phenomenal as he brought back his cutter which was tough to hit tonight. He only gave up four hits in five and one-third innings of work. He was great up until the top of the sixth inning when he allowed one run to score and left the bases loaded for Anthony Swarzak with one out.

Anthony Swarzak got the Yankees out of the jam when he forced Mark Trumbo to pop out foul to Rob Refsnyder who made a terrific running catch and held the runner at third with a strong throw to the plate. He then forced Jonathan Schoop to pop out foul to Didi Gregorius to end the inning and keep the damage to only one run.

Chase Headley capped off the scoring in the bottom of the eighth with a two run home run that scored Castro who had reached on a fielder’s choice earlier in the inning.

Swarzak continued his dominant performance for two and two-thirds innings and was replaced by Nick Goody to begin the ninth inning. Goody shut down the Orioles in the ninth inning striking out the side to secure the win.
