Yankees prospects who could have an impact in the Bronx in 2018
Greetings Yankees fans! I hope you all are
as excited about the Bombers’ future as I am! There is a phrase that I often
reference “The Future Is Bright In The Bronx.” Below you will find a list of the prospects I believe could be a part of the major league roster next season and will have their presence known fast:
Gleyber Torres (SS/2B/3B)

Gleyber Torres (SS/2B/3B)
Let's get the most obvious one
out of the way first. Gleyber Torres is the top ranked prospect in all of
baseball. Brian Cashman said the other day that Torres could push for a
starting spot as early as Opening Day. He stated that second and third base are possibilities. If Torres hadn't gotten hurt in June (ironically my
birthday), he would've been up a few weeks later, and, who knows, the Yankees
might not have ever acquired Todd Frazier. If Torres isn't in the Bronx to start the
season then he'll be up by June. The only question is what position he will be
playing. Only time will tell.
Justus Sheffield (LHP)
Justus Sheffield (LHP)
For those of you
unfamiliar with Justus Sheffield he was the headliner with Clint Frazier (more
on him later) in the Andrew Miller trade. Some scouts have Sheffield projected
as a guy with top of the rotation stuff. He's developed his slider into a filthy
out pitch, and scouts watching him in the AFL say his fastball command has
definitely improved. Depending on what the Yankees do rotation wise this
offseason he could make the team out of camp; if not, we could see him up in May
or June. Along with Torres and a few others he's definitely untouchable.
Clint Frazier (OF)
Clint Frazier (OF)
I am going to be honest, Clint Frazier is my second favorite prospect after Torres. I can't wait
for both of them to be playing everyday in the Bronx. Cashman said the other day that the Yankees
outfield is set with Aaron Judge (RF), Aaron Hicks (CF), and Brett
Gardner (LF) with Jacoby Ellsbury as the fourth outfielder. This means that
Frazier is currently blocked. I might be in the minority on this but I’m
not big on Hicks. He's too streaky and Frazier played 39 games with the
Yankees. During that time he went 31/134 with 9 doubles, 4 triples and 4
HRs. You're probably thinking that's streaky too, but the small sample
impressed me enough to think he'll be a better big leaguer in the long run.
Chance Adams (RHP)

Chance Adams (RHP)
Here is the wild card of the
prospects. Three years ago, Chance Adams was a reliever, but the Bombers must
have seen something and turned him into a starter. He's absolutely excelled
winning 31 games and registering an ERA of 2.33. Despite doing that well, the
Yankees have been hesitant to bring him up. It’s just a hunch, but
when he does get his chance, no pun intended, don't be surprised if it's as a
reliever.
Miguel Andujar (3B)
Miguel Andujar (3B)
From what I've read Miguel
Andujar’s biggest weakness is his defense. His bat is major league ready.
In his big league debut, he went 3-4 with a double. On the season, he went 4-7
with two doubles. At the present moment, there isn't a spot for him with Chase
Headley occupying third base (unless Torres unseats him). Hypothetically
speaking, if the Yanks don't add a veteran DH in the offseason maybe they will
give Andujar the job.
