Yankees injury news: Aaron Judge undergoes left shoulder surgery

The reigning, defending, undisputed American League Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge underwent arthroscopic left shoulder surgery on Monday. The procedure involved a loose-body removal and cartilage clean-up, and was performed by Dr. Neil ElAttrache in Los Angeles.

The 25-year-old slugger was often seen with large bags of ice over his left shoulder in late August in September following games, but he never let the media know that he was in pain. In his rookie season, Judge slashed .284/.422/.627 (1.049 OPS) with 52 bombs, 114 RBIs, and 24 doubles. With the timing of this surgery, Judge is expected to be fully recovered and ready for spring training in 2018.
