What is Tyler Wade's role on the 2018 Yankees?
It's no secret that the Yankees Farm System is loaded and Tyler Wade is one of my personal favorite Yankees prospects. This kid is so talented and can play SS/2B/CF. The Bombers wanted him to develop into their own version of Ben Zobrist. While playing with (AAA) Scranton last year, he went 105-for-339 which is good for a .310 average with 22 doubles, four triples, seven homers, 31 RBIs and 26 SB. With numbers like that you think he'd be a fixture in the Yankees lineup but he's currently blocked by Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks and Ronald Torreyes.

This isn't a knock on Torreyes, but Wade has a higher ceiling and can play more positions. Unless there is an injury or trade to Torreyes or of the others mentioned, they will be blocking Wade’s route to a prominent role with the Yanks. Who knows, maybe the Yankees trade Torreyes to open a spot on the 40-man roster. A move like that can kill two birds with one stone, as the old saying goes, allowing Wade to take over the role vacated by Torreyes. It would allow the team to add one their valuable prospects to the roster or possibly a future acquired player. Only time will tell what exactly Tyler Wade’s role is, but know this, when given a chance I think the kid will show everyone what he's capable of.
