Chad Green (2-3, 1.22 ERA in Triple-A Scranton this season) has been dominant as a starting pitcher at Triple-A Scranton. In seven starts, Green has allowed just five earned runs in 37 innings, while striking out 36 batters. Green was traded to the Yankees in the Justin Wilson trade with the Detroit Tigers during the 2015 offseason. Yankees manager Joe Girardi has not announced who will start in Severino’s rotation spot next Wednesday at Arizona, but it looks like Green is the frontrunner. Last year, Green pitched decently in Double-A Erie for the Tigers, pitching to a 5-14 record with a 3.93 ERA. He allowed 170 hits in 148.2 innings, but also struck out 137 batters. During the offseason, Green changed his grip on his slider and worked on his off-speed pitches, and his hard work has paid off as he’s been called up to the Majors for the first time in his career. Update 5/16: Green will start on Monday at Arizona.

Conor Mullee (3-0, 1.02 ERA in Triple-A Scranton this season) started the season off in Double-A Trenton, but after one appearance where he pitched 1.1 innings and allowed an earned run, he was called up to Triple-A Scranton on April 11. In eleven appearances in Triple-A, he’s allowed just two earned runs in 17.2 innings. He has 23 strikeouts to five walks, and has allowed just 11 hits. He is a solid pitcher out of the bullpen, and he will primarily be used as a one-inning reliever, but can pitch more if necessary.

J.R. Graham (0-2, 10.80 ERA in Triple-A Rochester this season) has one appearance in the Majors this season, allowing two earned runs in 1.2 innings on May 4. Graham struggled all season in Triple-A, and was designated for assignment after just one outing in the Majors. Last season, Graham made 39 appearances for the Twins, and in 63.2 innings, he allowed 73 hits and 21 walks, while striking out 53 batters. Graham is struggling right now, and the Yankees have assigned him to Double-A Trenton.

In terms of injury updates, Bryan Mitchell is still out after suffering a Grade III left turf toe. Greg Bird is out for the season after he underwent surgery to repair his torn right labrum. Mason Williams is recovering from right shoulder surgery from August 2015, and there has been no update on when he will return.
