Chapman becomes US citizen

On April 29th, 2016, our new soon-to-be flamethrowing closer, Aroldis Chapman, became a Citizen of the United States of America. As we all know, Chapman is from Cuba and even though the relations between the United States and Cuba aren't as tense as they once were, tension still remains. Nonetheless, a big step for Chapman as he prepares for his May 9th return. Ironically, he returns against the Kansas City Royals, who arguably have had the best bullpen in baseball the last two seasons. You can check out Chapman's instagram post below.

For the second straight night, Dellin Betances (2-3, 3.04 ERA) struggled on the mound. After he replaced Yates to start the seventh, Adam Jones and Hyun Soo Kim led off the seventh with consecutive singles. The next batter, Manny Machado, hit a slow roller down the third base line, and Jones easily scored from third as Machado was thrown out at first. Aaron Hicks needs to be the Yankees starting left fielder. Right now!

Man, I can safely say I never thought I would type the name of this article a year ago. Not ever. Out of the three outfielders that were with the Yanks during the 2016 season, Hicks was by far the worst, and Brett Gardner was the best, mostly due to his Gold Glove defense. However, this is no longer the case in 2017. At this point in the season, Gardner needs to be benched, and Hicks should be playing every day. Photo via AP

Trade Market the Perfect Storm for Yankees to Acquire Starter

 UPDATE D 11/18/15 We’ve all heard it: The Yankees aren’t likely to be big spenders this offseason. Hearing this makes me chuckle as the Yankees have the dollars to field a $500 million pay roll if they wanted to, but their dedication to winning just hasn’t been there since the passing of good ole’ George. Sure little rumors have serviced here or there about them maybe pursuing Zach Greinke who has recently opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but that move reeks of the move CC Sabathia pulled in opting out of his contract with the Yankees a few years back to simply restructure his contract and make a better payday.   However, instances like CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka are why I believe the Yankees aren’t going to shell out big money and a long term contract for a big name starter this year.
