Severino will undergo MRI, White Sox score seven runs early to win 7-1
The Yankees secured their series win last night with a 7-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Chase Headley finally hit his first home run of the season while Didi Gregorius and Starlin Castro both homered off of former Yankee Ian Kennedy. Today the Yankees started a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox, who currently lead the American League Central. The White Sox sent Chris Sale (7-0, 1.79 ERA) to the mound while New York countered with the struggling Luis Severino (0-5, 6.12 ERA). Sale has been dominant all season, striking out 47 batters in 50.1 innings, while only allowing 29 hits and 10 earned runs.

1st Inning
Adam Eaton and Todd Frazier both reached base for the White Sox on a HBP and base on balls before Ronald Torreyes made a run-saving play to rob Melky Cabrera of an RBI single to end the top half of the inning.

Aaron Hicks led off for the Yankees with a single to center before Starlin Castro, Carlos Beltran, and Mark Teixeira were all sent down in order by Sale. (Scoreless)
2nd Inning
Brett Lawrie led off the inning with a double followed by a one out RBI double to left by Alex Avila. Adam Eaton hit an infield single to load the bases with two outs before Jose Abreu drilled a two-run single to center. Severino ended the inning at 55 pitches through 2 innings of work. Chase Headley led off the bottom half of the 2nd with a solo home run, his second home run in as many games giving him two for the season. (3-1 White Sox)
3rd Inning
Severino retired the first two batters before surrendering a single to Alex Avila and a free pass to Austin Jackson before Adam Eaton smashed a two-run double to center.

The next batter, Jimmy Rollins, deposited a fastball into the right field seats for a two-run homer.

Nick Goody came on to replace Severino who threw 81 pitches over 2.2 innings. Goody retired Abreu to stop the bleeding. The Yankees went down in order. (7-1 White Sox)
4th Inning
Nick Goody sent the White Sox down 1-2-3. Mark Teixeira led off with a single before Headley, Sanchez, and Gardner went down in order. (7-1 White Sox)
5th Inning
For the second consecutive inning, Nick Goody worked a spotless inning. Chris Sale had a 9-pitch inning. (7-1 White Sox)
6th Inning
Goody allowed a leadoff single to Adam Eaton before sending down Rollins, Abreu, and Frazier down in order. Sale again had a 1-2-3 inning. (7-1 White Sox)
7th Inning
Chasen Shreve came on to pitch for the Yankees and did not allow a hit. Sale had no issue in the bottom of the seventh as well. (7-1 White Sox)
8th Inning
Shreve allowed a leadoff walk but then retired the White Sox in order. Chris Sale came out for the 8th and retired the Yankees in order for the 4th consecutive inning. (7-1 White Sox)
9th Inning
Kirby Yates entered to start the ninth. Yankees got runners on second and third with one out, but Sale completed the inning and the complete game without allowing a run.
