MLB trade rumors: Giancarlo Stanton would accept trade to Yankees

To what should not be the surprise of anyone, Giancarlo Stanton announced four teams that he would accept a trade to, which included the New York Yankees. He also listed the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the World Series champion Houston Astros as the other teams he’d accept a possible trade to. Stanton has been made available by the Derek Jeter-led Marlins front office, in large part due to his monstrous contract.

Many Yankee fans were ecstatic about this news, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. It’s still pretty unlikely that the Yankees part ways with the farm system they’ve worked so hard to bolster for an outfielder with this kind of contract and talks between the two teams haven’t heated up, although the Yanks are reportedly "kicking the tires" on talks with the Marlins. Whether you think they should go after him or not though, it’s hard to deny how fun it would be to see Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge in the same lineup together. The Marlins outfielder went on a historic run in the second half of the season, ending up with a league-leading 59 homers while earning NL MVP honors. Stanton added 132 RBIs, a slash line of .284/.376/.631, and a WAR of 7.6.

This is certainly a step in the right direction towards the dream of Giancarlo Stanton being a Yankee, but there’s still a long ways to go. Stanton’s impact would be huge and would likely make the Yankees the 2018 AL favorite over the Astros. Stay tuned to BBB for any more offseason updates revolving the Yanks!
