Breaking: Shohei Ohtani informs the Yankees that he will not be signing with them

In a very surprising turn of events, news broke Sunday evening that Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani will not be signing with the New York Yankees.

According to Ohtani’s representatives, they were very impressed with the Yankees’ presentation, but no matter how great it was, nothing could change the fact that they were not a west coast team and that the New York market is too big for his liking.

The Yankees were considered clear frontrunners to land the Japanese phenomenon’s services, and it is very peculiar as to why these intentions were not made public earlier in this process. With his preferences now widely known, teams such as the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres are on the top of his wish list.

He has also made it clear that he does not want to sign with Boston, Minnesota, nor Oakland. With money and winning on the bottom of his totem pole, it will be very interesting to see where he ends up. The Yankees can now shift their offseason focus.
