Yankees injury news: Aaron Hicks to begin rehab assignment in Triple-A Scranton tonight
Out
since late June with an oblique injury, Aaron Hicks will report to Triple-A
Scranton to start his rehab assignment. The Yankees believe Hicks will need at
least one week to get back into the swing of things, because he will need
at-bats from the left and right side of the plate. The Yankees believe he can possibly
rejoin the team after their next road trip.
Aaron
Hicks’ return will make for an interesting decision involving the Yankees’
outfield as they will have five players capable of playing every day for three positions.
Nevertheless, Hicks was having a career year before his injury and no matter the
roster decision will be an upgrade for the team defensively and offensively.
At the plate, Hicks was hitting .290/.398/.515, all career highs, with 10 homers, 37 RBIs, 15 doubles and seven steals. He also had a 144 wRC+ and 2.7 fWAR.
We will keep you updated on the status of Hicks.
