Yankees offense doesn't show up as they drop two game series in Arizona

Image
The Yankees looked to split the two game series in Arizona following a 3-1 loss on C.C.’s historic day. Masahiro Tanaka tried to rebound from his last start in Anaheim where he allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. He only went four innings today, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out six. The Yankees’ offense was non-existent once again as they were only able to put up two runs, losing 3-2. Credit: Matt York/AP Photo

Yankees comeback falls short as they get swept in Houston

Image
The Yankees looked to avoid the sweep following abysmal performances by the bullpen in the first two games. The Yanks fell flat in the last game of the series, with a final score of 8-6. Paxton was unable to control the Astros’ offense, as he allowed five earned runs over four innings. The offense looked completely overmatched by Astros starter Collin McHugh, who struck out nine through six innings. The Yankees’ rally late in the game was not enough to complete the comeback. Bullpen wastes Tanaka's stellar start in 4-3 defeat to Houston

The Yankees looked to ride the offensive wave they started in Baltimore in game one of a three game set against Justin Verlander and the Astros in Houston. The offense was not the problem as the Yanks were able to force Verlander out of the game in the seventh with a 3-1 lead, but Zack Britton and Adam Ottavino coughed up the lead, with Houston eventually coming away with the victor in this one by the count of 4-3. Clint Frazier burst onto the scene in his Major League debut on July 1st, 2017, going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. From that moment on, Yankee fans could tell the red-haired, 22-year-old had the potential to be something special. Photo Credit: Anthony Gruppuso/USA Today Sports
