BBB Top Prospect Countdown #27: Cale Coshow
Cale Coshow, a 13th
round pick in the 2013 draft, comes in at #27 on our prospect list. The 23 year
old was born in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma Christian University
which is located in his hometown of Edmond. Coshow was one of two players from Oklahoma
Christian University to be drafted in 2013 as teammate Chris Burgess was
drafted in the 26th round by the Phillies.

Breakdown
After being drafted by
the Yankees in 2013, Coshow made his professional debut that summer with Low-A
Staten Island where he pitched in 15 games, four starts, and a 3.76 ERA while
going 0-2. In 2015 Coshow, across three levels, had a 9-5 record with a 2.45
ERA 33 games and 15 starts. Coshow finished the season in Double-A where he
pitched to a 3.51 ERA in six starts.
Projection
While Coshow has been an
occasional starter in the minors, I expect him to contribute in the big leagues
as a reliever. Throughout the minor leagues, Coshow has been a better pitcher
as a reliever and that is most likely where he will have the most success
moving forward. Coshow will most likely start the 2016 season in either
Double-A or Triple-A and don’t be surprise if he ends up punching a ticket to
the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre-Bronx Shuttle.

league stats here.
