Image
Mike Trout, Mickey Mantle, Maurice Jones-Drew, and a martian are just some of the comparisons new Yankees' prospect Jasson Dominguez is getting this from scouts and media alike. Although it has been rumored for a long time, the club finally made it official today that they will be signing the phenom to a contract including a huge $5 million signing bonus. The 16-year-old outfielder joins a New York farm system that has slipped in recent years due to promotions and trades, and will likely slot near the top of the prospects lists. @jassondominguez_7

Yankees Gleyber Torres takes over as MLB Pipeline's top prospect in baseball

Image
With the graduation of Mets’ youngster Amed Rosario off prospect lists, Yankees INF Gleyber Torres has taken over in the top spot on prospect boards. The 20-year-old phenom has seen his stock rise ever since turning pro, and his stock is at its highest point in the final few weeks of the MLB regular season. Photo Credit: Scranton Times Tribune

A look at Clint Frazier's first MLB experience

Image
Yankees' number two prospect Clint Frazier was the prized jewel of the 2016 Andrew Miller trade, with a bodacious attitude to go along with fiery red hair, he was instantly popular among the New York faithful. Although he was unmistakably talented, with "legendary bat speed," according to GM Brian Cashman, the young outfielder was unpolished, and that mane was getting more attention in spring training than his play, and he would spend the beginning of the season in the minors. With Gleyber Torres out, Tyler Wade could soon be the answer for the Yankees at third base

Image
The Yankees have surprised many with their 40-32 start that has them tied for first place in the AL East despite having such glaring holes at first and third base. The Yankees just DFA'd Chris Carter late Friday night turning to youngster Tyler Austin at first base, leaving an open spot on the 40-man roster. And Yankees GM Brian Cashman may not be finished committing to the youth movement, as Tyler Wade has forced his name into the equation for the New York Yankees. Yankees promote third baseman Miguel Andújar to AAA to replace injured Torres

Image
Today is a dark day in Yankeeland as top prospect Gleyber Torres is set to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left (non-throwing) elbow - an injury that effectively ends his 2017 and potentially impacts next season as well. The RailRiders are calling up Miguel Andujar from Double-A. He's batting sixth and playing third tonight. #Yankees — DJ Eberle (@ByDJEberle) June 19, 2017 In the wake of this injury, the Yankees have promoted top double-A third basemen Miguel Andújar to replace Torres at the hot corner for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.  Andújar was ranked  #9 on our preseason Top Prospects Countdown  and has only improved his stock this season after absolutely torching the Eastern League (AA). Gleyber Torres to undergo Tommy John Surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2017 season

Image
Photo Credit: Kim Klement | USA TODAY Sports New York Yankees top prospect Gleyber Torres seemed to be on an unstoppable ride to the big leagues but that now has been cut short with news that the mega prospect will require Tommy John surgery. The injury occurred over the weekend when Torres slid, head-first, into home plate which you can see here . He exited the game with appeared to be an elbow injury which was later confirmed by the doctors. He tore the ulner collateral ligament in his non-throwing arm, effectively ending his 2017 season before he could reach the zenith. Torres was batting .309 for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders over the course of 23 games. He also had two home runs and 16 RBI. Before the call-up to Triple A, the 20-year old played 32 games with the Trenton Thunder in Double A ball, hitting .273 with five home runs and 18 RBI. While it is expected that the Venezuelan will miss the rest of this season, he should be ready to return early in 2018. In fac...

Yankees reportedly prepared to have Gleyber Torres starting in the big leagues in 2017

Image
Entering this season, Gleyber Torres was on the mind of nearly every Yankee fan, but he seemed to be about a year to a year and a half away from making a splash. All of a sudden, things have changed, and it appears as though the Yankees are prepared to call up the top prospect as soon as this season, according to a report by Randy Miller of NJ.com . Prospect Spotlight: Thairo Estrada

Image
Anytime someone thinks of a Yankees middle infield prospect, their focus will automatically go to Gleyber Torres. No one else really is considered, due to the fact that Gleyber is widely considered to be a future superstar, no matter where his position is. However, there is another middle infield prospect in the Yankees’ farm system that is currently making a name for himself, and that is Thairo Estrada. Photo Credit: Martin Griff

Bi-weekly prospect update

Image
Welcome back to our bi-week prospect update. This week’s biggest news is the removal of Aaron Judge from our list. He is officially no longer considered a prospect and will not be featured here. As sad as I am to see Judge go, that means we have room for a new prospect and also that I get to watch him on cable TV hitting moon balls every other day. Enjoy! Bi-weekly prospect update (4/17)

Image
On a bi-weekly basis I will be providing an update of the Yankee’s top prospects in the format below. My goal is to monitor and analyze the development of our newly acquired young players throughout the ups and downs of the long baseball season. As we all know, it’s been quite some time since the Yankees had this type of powerful minor league program, so I want to make sure I cherish the opportunity to cover them and bring as much light to these players as possible to our loyal readers. Enjoy. Photo Credit: Kim Klement/USA TODAY SPORTS

BBB 2017 Top Prospect Countdown #3: Blake Rutherford

Image
Blake Rutherford is a 19-year-old, left hand hitting outfielder selected in the 2016 MLB amateur draft. The Yankees selected Rutherford with the 18th overall pick in the first round. Rutherford was born in New Jersey, but moved to Southern California at the age of two and attended  Chaminade College Preparatory School in Simi Valley. Senior year Rutherford batted .577 and clubbed nine homeruns, in only 27 games. He was invited to play in the Under Armour All American game in 2015 and also competed with the USA 18 and under team. His time with the USA team includes winning a gold medal in Japan. Photo via MiLB.com

BBB 2017 Top Prospect Countdown #4: Jorge Mateo

Image
Although MLB.com ranked Aaron Judge a few spots ahead of Jorge Mateo on their top-100 prospect list, we have it the other way around. The 21-year old middle infielder has eye popping raw ability. He did slip just a bit on the prospects top-100 list from 2016 to now, but be ready for a monster campaign where he ends up significantly higher heading into the 2018 season. BBB 2017 Top Prospect Countdown #5: Aaron Judge

Image
The Baby Bombers got a taste of the big leagues last year, most notably Gary Sanchez took the league by storm. Another Baby Bomber to make their Major League debut was big man Aaron Judge, who infamously went back to back with Tyler Austin in their debut. Judge has come into Spring Training looking to lock up the starting right field job, but will be competing with Aaron Hicks in the process. Photo Credit: USA TODAY Sports

BBB 2017 Top Prospect Countdown #8: Chance Adams

Image
After being drafted in the fifth round by the New York Yankees out of Dallas Baptist University, the Yankees may not have expected right-hander Chance Adams to develop into the pitcher he has become. Coming out of high school, Adams has always been a player that has flown under the radar. After spending two seasons at Yavapai Community College in Arizona, Adams transferred to Dallas Baptist, where he was a star out of the bullpen pitching to a 1.98 ERA. Initially drafted as that shut-down reliever, Adams has evolved his stuff into that of a starting pitcher, and his ease into this new role is what is causing him to skyrocket across prospect boards. Pinstripe Preview: Kyle Higashioka

Image
As a 26 year old minor leaguer, Kyle Higashioka had to put up a very good season in 2016 to get any kind of attention and he most certainly did that as he earned a 40-man roster spot during the offseason. While never really considered a top prospect, Higashioka has always had some upside. Sometimes all it takes is one breakout season to get yourself on the map. Photo Credit: Baseball America
