Image
Photo Credit: Christian Petersen | Getty Images Just last night, Giancarlo Stanton narrowed the list of teams in which he would waive his no trade clause to the Dodgers, Astros, Cubs, and Yankees. About 24 hours later, the Marlins and Yankees are making noteworthy progress on a potential trade to bring the reigning NL MVP to the Bronx, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports . Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic was the first to report that the Yankees were serious players for a Stanton trade, even saying that the smoke is real.

Grading the 2017 Yankees: Pitching

Image
Grade: A- As we move further into the MLB offseason and closer to the busy part of the offseason, we’re going to take one more look back at the 2017 Yankees’ season. Last season was a very exciting time for us as fans and it will hopefully only get better in the seasons to come. A major part of the Yankees’ success last season was the growth and evolution of their pitching staff as the season progressed. Although the group had ups and downs throughout the year, the pitching staff emerged as a surprising strength of the team and helped to spur on their playoff run. With an exciting mix of young talent and veteran experience, this Yankees’ pitching staff was different from years past, but it may have been the most exciting in recent memory. Let’s take a look back at last years’ staff. Credit: Elsa/Getty Images

Recapping the Yankees at the 2016 Winter Meetings

Image
The Yankees went into the 2016 MLB Winter Meetings fresh off another playoff-less season - and third in the previous four season (also 2013 and 2014). The Yankees sought help both in the rotation, which remained a question mark the entire offseason, as well as offensively after having traded Brian McCann to the Houston Astros just two weeks prior. These meetings would be highlighted by two monster trades engineered by Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn; trading ace LHP Chris Sale to Boston for a package of prospects headlined by Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech, as well as his trade of star CF Adam Eaton to Washington for Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez.

MLB trade rumors: Giancarlo Stanton would accept trade to Yankees

Image
To what should not be the surprise of anyone, Giancarlo Stanton announced four teams that he would accept a trade to, which included the New York Yankees. He also listed the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the World Series champion Houston Astros as the other teams he’d accept a possible trade to. Stanton has been made available by the Derek Jeter-led Marlins front office, in large part due to his monstrous contract. Photo Credit: Mark Brown/Getty Images

The Yankees' starting pitching should be a huge strength in 2018

Image
As the Yankees made it one game short of the World Series, the main key of getting them there was their impressive starting pitching. With the rotation adding a key piece in Sonny Gray for the last stretch of 2017 along with the other four arms they already possessed, expect the rotation to be the strength of this stacked team in 2018. What should the Yankees do with Dellin Betances?

Image
When president Randy Levine stated Dellin Betances was not worth “closer’s money”, along with other questionable comments in the 2017 offseason, Yankee fans were outraged towards Levine and defended Betances. Betances looked to put it behind him by proving doubters, specifically Levine, wrong and continue to be one of the most dominant relievers in the game. Now with the 2017 season in the books, Betances’ future with the Yankees is in serious doubt after a rocky, disappointing season by his standards. Should they keep him or try and trade him away? Yankees courses of action following Shohei Ohtani news

Image
In case you missed the breaking news from last night, prized Japanese free agent Shohei Ohtani released his short list of teams he will be meeting with this week.  The Yankees are not on it. It was widely presumed that New York was the frontrunner to land the 23-year-old dual threat, but Ohtani has made it clear he prefers to sign with a team on the West Coast, as well as one in a smaller market.   Photo Credit: AP
