At just 3.5 games out of the AL East, the Yankees have been in the mix all season long in a year that might have been thought of as a rebuilding year entering 2017. However, the Yankees appear to be looking to make a postseason push, and with a couple holes on their roster, we will first take a look at what they can do to improve their infield at this year’s trade deadline. Yankees have called the Marlins on Martin Prado and Justin Bour

Image
A day after the Yankees had reportedly expressed interest in A’s RHP Sonny Gray, the Bronx hot stove continues to heat up. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, the Yankees are actively seeking corner infield help and have had conversations with the Miami Marlins about their first baseman Justin Bour and super utility-man Martin Prado. Their American East rival, the Boston Red Sox, are another team that has inquired about the Marlins’ available players. Bour has been a quality bat in the Marlins’ lineup for the past few seasons, but is in the midst of his best season yet in the Majors. His .938 OPS and 50 RBIs would improve an already potent Yankee lineup, and Bour would thorgouhly enjoy hitting balls over the Yankees short right field porch for seasons to come. Bour is not a free agent until 2021, so he would not come cheap for the Bombe...

The Cashman Chronicles

Image
There is a specific person behind the scenes that, in my mind, does not get enough credit and recognition.   Although, I feel most front office personnel and general managers hide within the depths of their respective stadiums (unless you are Theo Epstein).   Brian Cashman is one of those general managers that quietly pulls the logistical strings in the background as he looks to put a winning product on the field.   Sometimes he pulls the correct strings and sometimes he doesn’t.   The past fiscal year has proven to be a particular combination of good moves and bad moves depending on your opinion.   But I think it is safe to say that moves made in recent weeks have solidified Cashman once again as a top five general manager in Major League Baseball.
