Opinion: Three reasons to love the most happy fella, Gio Urshela

Image
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that something very exciting is happening down at third base at Yankee Stadium. Among the “replacement” Yankees who came up to join the team in the wake of half the team finding itself on the Injured List was Gio Urshela.   However, f ans expected the 2019 season to be another great one for 2018 Rookie of the Year contender, Miguel Andujar.   Not to mention, there was hope that the issue of his less than stellar fielding would resolve itself because his bat was too good to lose. BBB Betting Tips: Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians (5/4)

Image
A little early in the month I know, but this blog is all about the numbers. In the month of May BBBetting has never lost. The Yankees return home from their successful road trip, and with a beautiful night in the Bronx ahead of us, I foresee this trend continuing.   Photo Credit: Rich Schultz/Getty Images

Improbable 2-0 series comeback fueled by Didi’s pair of bombs and shutdown pitching send Yankees to ALCS

Image
The Yankees limped their way back to New York after a gut-wrenching game two loss, facing a seemingly insurmountable 2-0 hole to the probably the best and hottest team in baseball. It was almost a foregone conclusion that the season was over for the Bombers, but after two great wins at home, the Yanks headed back to Cleveland to face AL Cy Young favorite Corey Kluber and the Indians again. The Yankees were able to shut down the Indians to just two runs, while Didi Gregorius and Brett Gardner were able to provide five runs to send New York back to the ALCS for the first time since 2012. Girardi's blunder proves costly as Bombers blow five run lead to lose 9-8 in 13

Image
The Yankees came into this game looking for a bounce-back win for some momentum heading back to the Bronx. The Bombers would strike early and often, holding an 8-3 lead heading into the sixth, but after a horrible no-challenge decision by Joe Girardi, a grand slam by Francisco Lindor, a solo home run by Jay Bruce, the Yankees head to extras. Heartbreakingly, New York would lose the game in the bottom of the 13th inning, returning home down 0-2 in the series. Randy Miller | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Bauer dominates and Gray disappoints as Indians grab ALDS Game One 4-0

Image
The Yankees entered Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday night coming off the emotional high of their win in the Wildcard game on Tuesday night. With Corey Kluber looming on Friday, Game 1 was of key importance to Yankees’ hopes of making this a long and competitive series. The match up pitted Sonny Gray against Indians right hander Trevor Bauer and it was clear right from the jump that this was an energized Indians team with a raucous crowd behind them. The Indians jumped on top early and were able ride the momentum to a 4-0 victory. Credit: Davd Dermer AP Photo

Series Preview: Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees (8/28-8/30)

Image
The Yankees enter this series just 2.5 games out of the division lead, having won their last two series, taking two out of three from the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners. The offense has been inconsistent as ever as of late, rotating between moments of run scoring explosions to innings on end of mediocrity. With the returns of Greg Bird and Starlin Castro this past weekend, the Bombers will hope to make a push for the division as the race for October heats up. A pivotal four game series against the Red Sox in the Bronx soon awaits the Yankees, but first they must do all they can to defeat the first place Cleveland Indians, who have been bitten by the injury bug as of late, presenting the Bombers with a prime opportunity to capitalize.

Tanaka, Didi Lead Yankees Over Indians 3-2

Rapid Reaction: Yankees trade Andrew Miller to Indians for huge prospect package

Image
When I woke up this morning, and saw multiple notifications on my phone indicating that the Yankees had traded Andrew Miller, I entered into a state of shock. As we know, the writing has been on the wall for a couple of months, but knowing that the Yankees are officially in all-out sell mode is a bit of culture shock. In exchange for the All-Star reliever, Cleveland sent minor-league infielder Clint Frazier, and pitchers Justus Sheffield, Ben Heller, and J.P. Feyereisen to the Bronx. This is a move that may sadden some of us Yankees fans, but we must realize it is a necessary step in the path towards stockpiling minor league talent in a lost season. Photo by Elsa/Getty Images

Situational hitting, no run DMC propel Yankees to 5-4 victory over Indians

Image
The Yankees began a four game series against the red-hot Cleveland Indians with a narrow 5-4 victory following disappointing visits to San Diego and Chicago, where they dropped two out of three in each respective series. Ivan Nova pitched well enough to keep the Yankees in the game, while the offense did just enough to put the game in the hands of the team's biggest strength: (no run) DMC, which did not disappoint. Series Preview: New York Yankees at Cleveland Indians (7/7-7/10)

Image
Heading into this season, neither one of these teams had high expectations nor they were expected to win their respective divisions. Through 84 games, the Yankees have been as advertised, continuing their mediocrity, as they have gone 41-43. They have been one of the more streaky teams in baseball in every facet of the game with their bullpen, offense, defense, and rotation. On the other hand, the Indians have taken a 6.5 game lead over the Tigers, thanks in large part to their recent 14 game winning streak. Incredibly, before Wednesday’s loss against division-rival Detroit, they had not lost a home game since May 31. Their 51-33 record is good for fourth best in the majors. They will look to continue their fantastic first half when they take on the New York Yankees for the first time this season, at Progressive Field.
