Sir Didi Goes Deep Twice as Yankees Win 3-0

The Yankees hosted the  Washington Na tionals  Tuesday night in the first of a short two game set. C.C.  Sabathia  continued his hot June with a very solid  5   2/3   IP  giving up no run s .   Sabathia  battled   for the first three innings, allowing base runners in each, but settled down thereafter  and kept the Nationals bats at bay, picking up his 1,500 strike-out in pinstripes as well .  Tanne r  Roark looked sharp early, but it was  Didi  Gregorius  who broke the game open with a solo shot to left-center in the second inning, and the Yankees  would follow that u p with a  pair of  walks and  a n  Austin Romine sac-fly, to take an early 2-0 lead.    Photo Credit : AP/Bill Kostroun The Yankees threatened  in the fourth, but a top ten web gem by Michael  A.  Taylor robbed Neil Walker of an extra base hit and an RBI.  The Bombers ...

Where has El Kraken gone?

If Sunday’s disappearing act with the media was any indication, Gary Sanchez is tired of talking about his struggles at the plate. The Yankees catcher is now hitting a miniscule .190 and has only collected a hit in four of his last 15 games (4-53). While all great hitters go through dry spells and bouts with slumps, it has been tough to watch Gary’s at-bats these past couple weeks. He has looked both anxious and lost at times at the plate. Much of the anxiousness could be chalked up to breaking out of his funk, but Sanchez is too good of a hitter to look lost at-bat. Photo Credit :  Paul Bereswell

Gettin’ Miggy With It: Andujar’s Hot Start

Image
While the weather is still trying to catch on, things have been heating up in a big way in the Bronx. The Yankees have won seven games in a row and have been pouring on the runs, putting up 51 during the win streak. One of the major components of this streak has been the play of one of most recent Baby Bombers, Miguel Andujar.   Photo Credit : AP Photo/Kathy Willens After a slow start, going hitless and looking fairly overwhelmed in his first three games, Andujar’s bat has caught fire and has been red-hot ever since. Over his last 15 games, he is hitting .350 with eleven doubles, one triple, three homers and eleven RBIs. The extra base hits alone are a staggering number for such a brief period.  With his production added to a rejuvenated lineup, it’s easy to see why the Yankees have been putting up so many runs. He has greatly helped minimize any holes in the Yankees lineup from top to bottom.   His latest heroics coming last night when he ignited a game-...

Series Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox (4/10 - 4/13)

Image
After a dismal series with the Orioles in the Bronx, where the Yankees dropped three out of four (two of which in heartbreaking fashion), they now travel north to take on the division rival Red Sox. The Red Sox are as hot as any team right now, sporting a franchise best 8-1 record, so it will be a battle for the Yankees who are looking for a bounce back series. With all the division hype between the two team, the major free-agent signings this winter, and front-line rotational matchup, this series between the two has the feeling of an October classic.  Photo Credit: ESPN

2018 Pinstripe Preview: CC Sabathia

Image
While there is a lot of hype surrounding the Yankees going into the season, not much has been said about the return of the wily vet CC Sabathia. Sabathia returned to the Yankees on a club friendly deal because he saw the potential in this young group of guys, being quoted as saying, “I want to see this thing through, I want to come back here and finish things off”. He was crucial in the Yankees' success last year, becoming the stopper, going 9-0 when following a loss with a 1.71 ERA. Without this effort from the big man, the Yankees likely have a much tougher time getting into the playoffs last year. Photo Credit: Paul J. Bereswill

BBB weighs in: Top storylines for the 2018 season

Image
This is it, everyone! Opening Day is officially a single day away.  The long Winter offseason has finally come and gone and in just 24 short hours, Yankees baseball will be back on our TVs nightly.  In preparation of the start of the season, I asked a few of our writers to weigh in on the top storylines heading into the 2018 Season. The question? Simple: 'What are you most excited about?'  Photo via New York Yankees Twitter Andrew Natalizio   Follow @anatalizio0523 In 2017 NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton and 2017 AL ROY Aaron Judge, the Yankees have a power duo the likes we haven't seen since Maris and Mantle. While expecting both sluggers to repeat their 2017 performances might be a bit far-fetched, the Yankees should be atop most offensive statistics this season. Behind Judge and  Stanton  you have Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius, both coming off career years, and hopefully if/when healthy, Greg Bird. In the interim, I’m excited to see what ...
