Right-hander Corey Kluber will be shut down for a minimum of two months due to a sub-scapular strain in his right shoulder. First baseman Luke Voit will face another IL stint as well, as he’s dealing with a Grade 2 strained oblique.

The news comes after Kluber was removed from Tuesday’s game in the third inning after experiencing shoulder tightness. Kluber’s injury hurts significantly, as he’s pitched tremendously as the primary guy behind ace Gerrit Cole. In 53.1 innings, he’s 4-3 with a 3.04 ERA and 134 ERA+, including a historic no-hitter against the Rangers.

Luke Voit heads back to the IL after playing just 12 games. Left knee surgery kept him sidelined for the first few months of the season. Voit struggled in limited time, accumulating just eight hits in those 12 games (.182/.280/.250) with just one homer. His timetable to return seems unclear, as manager Aaron Boone wasn’t too clear, however, Grade 2 oblique strains tend to require significant recovery time.
