Yankees avoid arbitration hearings with all 10 eligible players in 2021

On a day when DJ LeMahieu rightfully made all of the headlines, there was more good news from the Yankees Front Office: every member of the Yankees who was up for arbitration in 2021 will avoid a hearing.  This season is the fourth season in a row that the Yankees will avoid going to arbitration with any of their eligible players.  As of 5:50PM on January 15, the Yankees had not yet agreed with Gleyber Torres, but that situation didn't last long:

As a refresher from last January, salary arbitration, as defined by MLB, reads as follows: "Players who have three or more years of Major League service but less than six years of Major League service become eligible for salary arbitration if they do not already have a contract for the next season."

Among the Yankees aribtration-eligible players are a number of Super Twos.  Super Twos have accrued less than three, but more than two, years worth of MLB service time.  All Super Two players must rank in the top 22 percent of MLB in order to be eligible for arbitration.

Following the announcement of avoiding arbitration hearings with all eligible players, the Yankees announced a 1-year, $11M contract with RHP Corey Kluber, leaving the fate of veteran and free agent RHP Masahiro Tanaka in question.  Per CBS Sports, Kluber's salary will help the Yankees in staying under or within the luxury tax threshold.  The fates of LHP James Paxton and LHP JA Happ, also free agents, also remain in question. 

With three big announcements in one day on January 15, and so many questions still left unanswered, an assumption can be made that Brian Cashman is not finished making moves before Opening Day 2021.

 UPDATE D 11/18/15 We’ve all heard it: The Yankees aren’t likely to be big spenders this offseason.
