Yankees trade LHP Nestor Cortes Jr. to Seattle Mariners
The
Yankees announced on Monday that they finalized a trade deal that will send
Nestor Cortez Jr. to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for $28, 300 in
international signing bonus pool allocation.
The trade came after the announcement last week that the Yankees had designated Cortes for assignment, leaving open a roster spot ahead of the upcoming winter meetings.

As
a result, the Yankees’ international signing bonus pool total has increased to
$5,835,800.00. The Mariners have now
spent their entire $5.37 million pool. The
Yankees have used a great deal of their pool already, to the sum of
$5,762,000.00 in the signings of Jasson Dominguez, Enger Castellano and Manuel
Palencia.

the 2019 season, Cortes made 32 relief appearances, one start, logged a 5.67
ERA and a 5-1 record. He did not earn a
spot on the postseason roster.
