The Bronx Bombers opened up their four game series against the Kansas City Royals with a bang, as the team lived up to their nickname, slugging five solo homers to give them the 6-3 win. Behind Ivan Nova, making his first start of the season, the Yankees began the series on a good note. In game two, Yankee ace Masahiro Tanaka (1-0, 2.29 ERA), took the mound as he looked to continue his stellar start to the season. Tanaka squared off against Kansas City right hander Kris Medlen (1-3, 6.85 ERA), who has had a rough start to his season. After two wins over the Boston Red Sox on Friday and Saturday, the Yankees looked to sweep the Red Sox on Sunday, but knuckleballer Steven Wright shut the Yankees offense down. Today, the Yankees started a 4-game series against the Kansas City Royals at home. Ivan Nova (1-1, 5.14 ERA), replacing CC Sabathia in the rotation while he’s on the 15-day disabled list, faced off against Kansas City’s Chris Young (1-4, 5.76 ERA), who is the most extreme fly ball pitcher in MLB (and has been since 2002). Chien-Ming Wang also made his return to the Bronx for the first time since July 4, 2009. He was a 19 game winner for the Yankees in both 2006 and 2007. The Yankees took a step in the right direction this weekend taking 2 out of 3 games against the Red Sox. After getting an intense win on Friday, and beating up on David Price on Saturday, the Yankees were shut down by knuckleballer Steven Wright on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. Still, the Yankees took a major step in the right direction by winning the series. The Yankees will start a 4-game series with the Kansas City Royals which includes the highly anticipated return of Aroldis Chapman.

The Yankees are trying to claw their way back into relevance in the American League East division race, but several injuries are getting in the way. CC Sabathia, Alex Rodriguez, Starlin Castro, and Jacoby Ellsbury have all had injuries; thankfully, minor ones such as the one with Brett Gardner were resolved quickly. However, the aforementioned four players are still not back yet, so we’ve compiled a list of injury updates for all of you so you can view them at one place. After a 3-2 win on Friday and an 8-2 win on Saturday, the Yankees came into Mother’s Day on Sunday looking for a sweep of the Boston Red Sox at home. Just a week earlier, they were swept at Fenway Park, also on Sunday Night Baseball. Nathan Eovaldi threw eight brilliant innings to lead the Yankees to win on Saturday, and was backed by a resurgent offense, led by Carlos Beltran, Didi Gregorius, and Austin Romine. Today, the Yankees sent their young star, Luis Severino (0-4, 6.31 ERA) to the hill to face Boston’s Steven Wright (2-3, 1.67 ERA), who is one of the only two active knuckleball pitchers in Major League Baseball (R.A. Last night, the Yankees won a big series opener against the Boston Red Sox. They came out on top 3-2 after Aaron Hicks homered in the 7th to give the Yankees the lead. In the dramatic 9th inning, both David Ortiz and Red Sox manager John Farrell were tossed after home plate umpire Ron Kulpa made two questionable strike calls against Boston. Andrew Miller delivered with a clutch four-out save to give the Yankees their first win against their rivals this season. The Yankees lost a heartbreaker last night, 1-0, in ten innings at Camden Yards against Baltimore. Masahiro Tanaka was brilliant, but the Yankees offense failed to crack the scoreboard against Kevin Gausman of the Orioles. Today, the Yankees returned to The Bronx to start a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox, after getting swept by the Red Sox earlier this season. The Yankees sent Michael Pineda to the mound to face Boston’s Rick Porcello. Earlier today, the Yankees got unfortunate news as CC Sabathia went on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain, and the Yankees called up Phil Coke as the roster replacement. What a way to start off the weekend. Earlier today, at 2:21 PM ET, the Yankees PR Department broke Yankees Twitter by tweeting that CC Sabathia had been placed on the DL. Coming off his best outing of the season, this is a huge loss for the Yankees. Yankees manager Joe Girardi talked to the media, and said that Sabathia will hopefully only miss three weeks. With their 7-0 win last night, the Yankees finally ended their six-game losing streak. Today, the Yankees were looking to win their first series since the Tampa Bay series at home, on April 22-24. Winning today would also give the Yankees their first road series win of the season. The Yankees sent Masahiro Tanaka to the hill to face Baltimore’s Kevin Gausman. Earlier today, the Yankees sent James Pazos down to Triple-A, while calling up OF Ben Gamel. Gamel has never played at the majors level in his career. Meanwhile, sending Pazos down eliminated the extra arm the Yankees were carrying in their bullpen. Brett Gardner was out of today's lineup after his elbow was hit by a pitch.
