Yankees carry no-hitter into the 8th, win in walk-off fashion on Gleyber's 9th inning HR

Image
Final: Indians 4 – Yankees 7   The Yankees have just finished a grueling stretch of 18 straight games without an off day; with each team they faced having a record above .500. The Bombers finished 16-2. This game started as a pitcher’s duel between Domingo Germán and Mike Clevinger. No runs were scored until the 8th, when the Indians broke up the no hitter and put up four runs and the Yanks answered with three in their half. The Yankees tied it up in the bottom of the 9th thanks to a Neil Walker double and then won it on a  Gleyber  Torres three-run homer to dead center for the walk-off.   Photo Credit: Kathy Willens/AP Photo

“May the 4th Be With You” was the slogan of the night. It was only fitting that the Force was strong within the fourth inning tonight.   The Yankees had some hiccups with the bullpen but were able to ride offense by the baby bombers to a walk off win over the Indians. Credit: Elsa/Getty Images

Sanchez walk-off HR caps Yankees' comeback, sweep of Twins

Image
The Yankees entered Thursdays game looking for a  four-game  sweep of the Twins and their sixth straight win overall.  It was Jordan Montgomery taking the bump against Kyle Gibson for a matinee in the Bronx. Gibson pitched great as he took a no hitter into the sixth inning, completely shutting down the Yankee bats.  The Yankees never gave up though, as they rallied back from down 3-1 in the ninth, when Gary Sanchez hit a three-run  walk-off  home run, giving the Yankees the win.

Yankees beat Rangers 2-1 after passed ball in the 9th

Image
The Yankees continued their trend of walk-off victories today, beating the Texas Rangers by a score of 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th as a result of none other than a passed ball. After Chase Headley got on with a leadoff walk, he was moved to second from a sac bunt by Didi Gregorius. Aaron Hicks then walked, and both Hicks and Headley were moved to 2nd and 3rd from Starlin Castro’s groundout. Jacoby Ellsbury came to the plate and didn’t have to do any work, as Chase Headley was able to score from 3rd on a passed ball. Coming into today’s game, Michael Pineda (3-7, 5.24 ERA) had been cruising through the month of June, positing an ERA of 3.00. In a game he deserved to win, the righty picked up the no decision despite mowing down the Texas lineup.

The Yankees dropped the first two games of a key series with the Texas Rangers to fall two games under .500. After seven innings, the team looked dead in the water facing a 6-2 deficit, but thanks to a Brian McCann solo homer in the eighth, and a three-run shot as part of six run ninth inning, the Yankees won 9-7, on a Didi Gregorius walk-off two-run dinger. Starlin Castro's walk off home run gives Yankees 9-8 win

The New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies have a tendency to put up a lot of runs when they play each other. Today was no exception, except the Yankees actually came out on top. Both teams combined for 19 hits and 17 runs in the Yankees 9-8 win thanks to a walk-off homer from Starlin Castro. Picture Credit: Julie Jacobson | AP
