Yankees trade OF Jake Cave to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for RHP Luis Gil

Despite his impressive breakout season in 2017, Jake Cave was the odd-man out of the Yankees crowded outfield depth. Cave was designated for assignment following the signing of Neil Walker and will now will be calling Minnesota his new home. Photo Credit: Milb.com

2018 Pinstripe Preview: Jake Cave

Image
Jake Cave has long been a name in the Yankees pipeline. He has spent a grueling seven years down in the Yankees’ farm system after being selected in the sixth round by the Bronx Bombers. He was ranked as high as the 17th prospect in the Yankee’s system by Baseball America in 2014, but unfortunately has fallen off that list in the subsequent years. Falling off this list and out of the minds of some fans, seems to have only motivated Cave, and his 2017 season was proof of this. Photo Credit:  Elsa/Getty Images

Yankees sleeper prospects to watch out for in 2018

Image
The Yankees enter the 2017-18 offseason with one of, if not the best farm system in Major League Baseball. By now you know the big names. There's MLB Pipeline’s #1 overall prospect Gleyber Torres, there's top arms Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield, there's top outfield prospects Clint Frazier and Estevan Florial, and of course there's Miguel Andújar, a 3B/DH prospect who possesses possibly the best bat in the organization. But look beneath the surface and you'll find other hidden gems; lesser known names that might just force their way onto the 25-man roster at some point next season. Photo Credit: USA Today Sports

Ten potential September call ups for the New York Yankees

Image
On September 1, rosters expand from the normal 25-man limit to the entirety of a team’s 40-man roster. A team normally filled with established veterans, the Yankees are now infused with youth and are starting to feel the toll of a 162-game season. The Yankees remained relatively healthy throughout the first-half of the season, but have been bit with the injury bug in the second-half, and the team would certain accept with open arms a few reinforcements to rest regulars and help the team down the stretch.  Photo Credit: MILB.com

BBB 2017 Top Prospect Coundown #24: Jake Cave

Image
Jake Cave was the Yankees sixth round draft pick in the 2011 amateur Major League Baseball draft. He was selected directly out of high school from Hampton, Virginia. He is a left-handed outfielder, capable of playing all three-outfield positions. The Cincinnati Reds selected Cave in the 2015 Rule 5 Draft. After failing to make the Reds' major league roster, he was returned to the Yankees in 2016 for a fee of $25,000. Photo Credit: Bill Tarutis | Times Leader

Prospect Spotlight: Dustin Fowler

Image
The year 2016 was a very good year for Yankees prospects. Not only were top notch prospects acquired, but some prospects took the necessary step forward in their development to reach the Major Leagues. I want to take a closer look at one of those prospects in Dustin Fowler. Photo Credit: MiLB.com

Prospects Flying Under the Radar

Image
After several years of the Yankees fielding a poor farm system, the farm is rebuilding and is pretty quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. In addition to potential superstars in the MLB, the Yankees also have a ton of potential solid major leaguers and some prospects flying ay under the radar. This blog isn’t to focus on the big names you’ve probably heard one thousand times (Severino, Judge, Bird, Refsnyder). Let’s take a look at some of the prospects flying under the radar. Tyler Wade

The next Yankee first basemen

Image
By: Jerry Culkin Severino, Sanchez, Jagielo, Clarkin, Judge, Refsnyder, Cave, Banuelos, Lindgren, Torrens. Those are the Yankees top ten prospects. Two of those, Judge and Jagielo, were the cream of the crop of the seven prospects the Yankees sent into the Arizona Fall League. Yet it was the Yankees #11 prospect, Greg Bird, who took home AFL MVP last month.
