BREAKING: LHP Carlos Rodon to Yankees on a 6-Year/$162M deal

On the eve of my birthday, and with ten days until Christmas, the Yankees gave us all the gift we've been waiting for: they won the Carlos Rodon sweepstakes on a 6-year, $162M deal after he opted out of a contract with the San Francisco Giants.  The deal also reportedly includes a no-trade clause.  Jon Heyman recovered from the Arson Judge debacle and had it first: 



A starting pitcher was high on the wish list of Yankees fans, as Frankie Montas was a bust in 2022, Luis Severino hasn't pitched a full season in some time due to injuries, Jameson Taillon joined the Chicago Cubs and Nestor Cortes and Gerrit Cole can't do everything.  

In the 2022 season, Rodon went 14-8, with a 2.88 ERA and 237 strikeouts over 178 innings pitched.  He allowed 52 walks, and 59 runs on 131 hits -- and just 12 of those runs were home runs.  According to ESPN, in 2021, Rodon "returned to elite form" after Tommy John surgery, with a 2.37 ERA over 24 starts, though his team at the time -- the Chicago White Sox -- were "careful with him" and never allowed him to pitch more than five innings.  With more time removed from Tommy John, Rodon will hopefully see more innings in Pinstripes.

Rodon, according to ESPN, also "won't have to wait too long" to face his former teammates -- the Yankees will host the Giants on Opening Day 2023.

Five keys to a successful 2016

Being trapped inside for the last two days due to the snowstorm that pounded the entire eastern seaboard has only enhanced my desire for the return of baseball season. Considering all indications from ownership point to the Yankees being done for the most part as far as additions are concerned, I felt as if now would be a prompt time to make some early predictions about the 2016 season. As I look at the Yankees team as currently comprised, I'm feeling the same sense of uncertainty as I did at this point last season. A successful 2016 season is contingent on production from players who are either old, injury prone, or in some cases, a combination of both. Normally, this would seem to be a recipe for disaster, however I'm going to try the optimistic route. Below, are what I view as the five keys to a successful 2016.
