Bronx Bomber Bets 4/12/22

Image
Hello and welcome again to Bronx Bomber Bets! This will be our second BBBets of the season, with the first being last Friday where I started 4-1. I didn’t give out any bets this weekend, but had an overall pretty solid weekend, and then saved myself yesterday by not giving out any picks (I had the graphic made and had began a blog) on a day where I ended up going 1-3. I’m gearing up to end that cold streak at one day today, and I have 4 bets that I think will return my hands to their heat from this weekend. It’s just picks from me again today, but hopefully later this season we start getting bets from our other two resident degenerates at BBB, Andrew and Luigi.

First (And Maybe Last) Bronx Bomber Bets of the Season

Hello all and welcome back to your favorite yearly tradition that slowly disappears by mid June! Hopefully that is not the case this season, and the best bettors in the world to fade just become the best bettors in the world period.

Free Agent Targets: Closers

Even after two marquee midseason trades in which the New York Yankees shipped elite relievers Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman to the two eventual teams to compete in the World Series, the pinstripers' bullpen still ranked among the best in baseball in several pitching statistics come seasons end. After the aforementioned player’s departure from the Bronx, the ‘pen was led by the likes of Dellin Betances and Adam Warren, and finished the season with an American League-best .224 BAA (batting average against,) and second in strikeouts (578) and wins (36.) Unfortunately for Yankees fans, despite these impressive statistics, its bullpen was only able to muster a 3.67 ERA — the 16th best in the MLB (7th in the AL.) While the Yankees’ bullpen was perhaps its greatest strength through August, the bullpen imploded in several important September games — most noticeably by overworked closer Dellin Betances — which ultimately kept the Yankees out of the playoffs.  While Dellin Bet...

Mitchell hammered as Yankees drop second straight game

Bryan Mitchell, coming off an impressive season debut on Wednesday, got rocked by the Dodgers on Monday night, as the Yankees dropped the series opener 8-2 for the second consecutive defeat. The back-to-back defeats are a huge stumbling block to the Yankees’ playoff hopes, as they need to finish roughly 13-6 the rest of the season to have a realistic shot at the second wild card. Kathy Willens, AP Mitchell shut down the Blue Jays five days ago, only scattering four hits over five shutout innings, giving him his first win of the season. Tonight, however, he didn’t have the same luck. In just two and a third innings, he was tagged for eight hits and six runs, although only two of those runs were earned. His pitches were staying up, and every batter was making solid contact. He left the offense with a deficit they were not able to overcome. This start will leave Joe Girardi with a tough decision as to who he wants to pitch in his spot the next time around, especially if the playo...
