Bronx Bomber Ball

A chilly night in the Bronx set up a pitcher’s duel between Masahiro Tanaka and Jordan Zimmerman in game two of a three game set between the Tigers and Yankees.  The Yanks took the opener of the series with a 3-1 win backed by a solid performance from Domingo German, and were looking to secure their first series win of the season in Tuesday night’s contest. The Yankee bats could not do enough as they fell 3-1, setting up a rubber match on Wednesday afternoon.

The Yankees kicked off the young season with their second series of the season as they traveled to Detroit for a weekend series. Game one featured young rising star Luis Severino (5-3, 2.89 ERA in 2015) against newly acquired Jordan Zimmermann (13-10, 3.66 ERA in 2015). Zimmermann received a large pay day this offseason signing a 5 year deal worth $110 million. As the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and a New York team not from the Bronx is coming to a close, the Yankees are gearing up for this winter’s free agency. When it comes to free agency, fans and analysts alike can point to numerous weak spots on the Yankees roster such as second base, a right handed power bat or a right handed bullpen arm. However, this roster’s most glaring need resides in its starting staff and this free agency class is plentiful of solid arms.
